Mui Ne is a cape in Phan Thiet city, a famous tourist center of Binh Thuan province. The name Mui Ne comes from fishermen. "Mui" is a cape jutting out into the sea; "Ne" means a place to avoid storms. In 2018, Mui Ne was recognized as a national tourist area. This place is famous for its long blue beaches and beautiful sand dunes.

What season is Mui Ne beautiful?

Tourists can visit Mui Ne all year round, each season the "sea paradise" has a different beauty. From April to August is the best time to visit Mui Ne, at this time the sea water is clear and cool.

August to December is suitable for those who love surfing and adventure sports because of the time. In December, it can rain, visitors should bring an umbrella if going out.

Move

From Ho Chi Minh City, tourists can now easily travel to Mui Ne by motorbike, bus or train.

Backpackers often follow the coastal route. From Ho Chi Minh City, you can follow the Cat Lai ferry, go to Long Thanh, then to Ba Ria town, continue towards Ho Tram through Loc An, then follow the coastal route towards Phan Thiet. The total distance is about 230 km.

If you don't go by motorbike, you can also go to Mien Dong bus station to buy a ticket to Phan Thiet, travel time is about 5 hours, ticket price is 130,000 VND per person, depending on the bus company.

Visitors can also take the SPT1/SPT4 train from Saigon station. Ticket price is 110,000 VND per person, departing in the morning.

From Hanoi, visitors can fly to Ho Chi Minh City and travel to Phan Thiet or fly to Cam Ranh, Nha Trang and then take a car to Mui Ne (nearly 200 km). From April 29, 2023, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway will be put into operation, shortening the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to about 2 hours by car. It is expected that by the end of 2023, Phan Thiet airport will be put into use in phase 1.

Where to play?

Mui Ne is not only a "paradise for entertainment" with a long beautiful coastline, it is also famous for many historical sites and the rich Cham culture. Below are the 10 most famous destinations in Mui Ne, Phan Thiet. 1. Hon Rom Hon Rom is the name of a small, still wild mountain located in Long Son hamlet, Mui Ne ward, Phan Thiet city. Visitors should come to Hon Rom early in the morning or late in the afternoon to watch the sunrise and sunset. This is also an ideal camping spot for a campfire at night or to watch the moon and stars. The beach cluster in Hon Rom has calm waves, no reefs and clear blue water. You can ask for directions to Hon Rom 1, Hon Rom 2 or Thuy Trang beach to swim.

2. Red Sand Dunes

Near Hon Rom is one of the most beautiful sights in Mui Ne - Red Sand Hill. In addition to the long, wavy sand beaches, the color of the sand is also a point of attraction for tourists, sometimes the sand on the hill has up to 18 different colors. Up on the sand hill, you can rent a skateboard, the price is about 20,000 VND per board. At the foot of the sand hill, there are some fast foods and drinks for sale such as: Three-cut coconut, tapioca dumplings, tofu...

3. Hon Ghenh Hon Ghenh is also known as Hon Lao, this place is about 1 km from Mui Ne and is still quite pristine. To get to Hon Ghenh, you can rent a boat from a fisherman (200,000 VND for a boat of 10 people) or use the shuttle service of the resort or hotel. Early in the morning, visitors can come here to fish, then go diving to see the coral, the evening is the best time to watch the sunset and sunset on the sea. 4. Bau Trang - Bau Sen

Bau Trang – Bau Sen are two natural freshwater lakes located between immense white sand dunes. Coming to Bau Trang in the summer, visitors can admire thousands of lotus flowers blooming among the white sand dunes. Bau Trang sand dunes are considered as "miniature Sahara desert" in Vietnam with immense, wild scenery. Here visitors can rent off-road vehicles or Jeeps to drive around Bau Trang, costing about 600,000 VND for 20 minutes.

5. Fairy Stream Fairy Stream in Mui Ne is called "Fairyland" by tourists. There is a small stream next to Hon Rom. Next to the stream are natural red and white stalactites with many strange shapes due to the erosion of time.

6. Mui Ne Fishing Village Mui Ne Fishing Village is about 3 km from town. Right at the entrance to the fishing village are hundreds of colorful fishing boats anchored. Not far away is a small market with a peaceful pace of life. Although the fishing village only stretches about 100 m along the coast, this is where visitors can most clearly feel the life of fishermen. 7. Duc Thanh School This is a historical destination you should visit when coming to Mui Ne, Phan Thiet. The school was founded in 1907 by patriotic scholars to respond to the Duy Tan movement in Central Vietnam. Duc Thanh School is also where President Ho Chi Minh stopped to teach before going to Saigon. Today, the Duc Thanh school area still retains almost intact relics from nearly a century ago. 8. Van Thuy Tu Palace Located on Ngu Ong Street, Van Thuy Tu Palace is an ancient relic (1762) with an ancient and solemn beauty. This is also a symbol of the whale worship of Binh Thuan fishermen. Van Thuy Palace is also the place to preserve the largest whale skeleton in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

If you want to find pristine, deserted beaches, you can rent a boat to Hon Lao Island. This is a deserted island near Mui Ne Bay but few people visit. 10. Poshanu Tower 7 km northeast of Phan Thiet city center, Poshanu Cham Tower is a group of remaining relics of the ancient Champa Kingdom. The tower has Hoa Lai architectural style in the ancient art style of Champa. Specialty

1. Mui Ne seafood salad is famous for its fish salad and snail salad. Fish salad is made from fresh anchovies, sardines or mackerel served with raw vegetables, vermicelli and special dipping sauce. Snail salad has the main ingredients of sliced ​​snail meat, pork, vegetables, roasted peanuts, fried onions mixed together, dipped in sweet and sour fish sauce. 2. Dong dishes The specialty of Mui Ne sand dunes is dong. Dong meat is white like chicken but sweeter, richer and softer. Some delicious dishes made from dong include: grilled dong, roasted dong, steamed dong, dong sausage, dong salad, dong porridge and dong cooked with watermelon. 3. King crab This is a specialty of Tuy Phong, Binh Thuan. The crab meat is sweet, chewy and fragrant; the crab shell is crispy, soft, and can be broken with teeth. King crab in Tuy Phong is available all year round but the twelfth lunar month is the time when the crab is most delicious. King crab is often grilled or steamed with salt, pepper and lemon, but it is best cooked into porridge.

4. Soft rice paper rolls, rice paper with shrimp paste These are popular snacks in Binh Thuan in general. You can find them at all street vendors, the intersection of Thu Khoa Huan and Tran Hung Dao is only sold in the afternoon and evening. 5. Hot pot Hot pot is a typical dish in Phan Thiet that many tourists try to eat. The main ingredients are usually anchovy leaves, mackerel, herring, sardines, red tilapia... cleaned, filleted and then sliced ​​into thin slices. Vegetables served with hot pot are also cut into small strips. Hot pot is eaten with a dipping sauce made from a mixture of sour tamarind; chili, garlic, roasted peanuts, ripe bananas (many places use soy sauce) pureed and mixed with pure fish sauce.

Rapid tourism development has led to a wide variety of accommodation services in Mui Ne. Tourists can choose from budget homestays to high-end hotels and resorts. Homestays are often far from the sea and mainly serve young people and foreign groups who like new experiences, with an average price of 500,000 VND per night. Motels are often located deep in alleys, mainly concentrated on Huynh Thuc Khang Street extending towards Hon Rom. There are many hotels in Mui Ne, mainly concentrated on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, with an average price of 700,000 to 1 million VND per night.

From here, visitors can see the whole Mui Ne bay.

The waves are not too big but will be stronger than usual, you should find calm beaches with safety signs for swimming. In the evening, Hon Rom tourist area has an afternoon market with many grilled seafood dishes, very affordable prices. In the evening, Mui Ne has many foreign guests, mostly Russians and Koreans. Some hotels only rent cars to foreigners, so don't be too surprised.
