Kids don’t know where to go during the summer? The answer is to take them to the library. The experience of managing children through making library cards for children has been applied by many families for several years now.
Children are safe in the library, living in the world of books and newspapers. But when they have nowhere to go when the adults are away, should they choose the library? For that reason, it is sad for the library. The library cannot become an involuntary babysitting place like that.
Having a library card during the summer is something many children look forward to. Going to the library, children will be able to read the books they like. Rare and expensive books are usually only available in bookstores and libraries. Not all children can access them in bookstores. Therefore, going to the library is the best opportunity to gain knowledge and entertain themselves by reading their favorite books. Many children have “lived” with the library. They wait for the library to open and regret when the time is up.
Libraries have gradually lost their place as reading culture has shifted dramatically in recent years. Digital books, the internet and handheld devices have changed people’s reading habits, including children. Many libraries have invested in modern, spacious facilities. But these changes have not been able to change reading habits. Readers are gradually disappearing, many people compare libraries to monasteries.
These days, the library is unusually crowded. Partly because the kids are just off summer vacation and want to get back into the habit of reading. Partly because many seniors need a quiet space to study for the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam. Not many people believe that these kids will return to the library after they finish their exams. Because then they won’t have to study anymore, so why would they need a space like a library?
Children who come to the library, no matter what the reason, means that they still see the benefits of this institution. Librarians should somehow spread and multiply the reading culture and the spirit of loving books in the hearts of children, so that they see the necessity of the library and come back after exams.
Libraries are not simply a collection of books. Let’s turn libraries into destinations that can provide readers with many other benefits besides books. To do that, libraries can link up and open up services permitted by law. In recent years, a similar cultural institution, museums, has made efforts to innovate and diversify its approaches to attract visitors. That is the inspiration for libraries to escape their dependence on the “milk” of the budget and have measures to keep readers for themselves.
