Embroidery is preserved and promoted by the Dao ethnic group in Cam Binh commune.
Established in 2012 with 30 members, the Binh Yen Village Folk Culture Club has now attracted 50 members. In addition to performing art performances for the people in the village, commune, and district on holidays and participating in competitions and mass art performances at all levels, the Club also transmits many lullabies and unique dances of the Dao people to the younger generation. From this Club, many young people have been trained to become the next generation.
Along with establishing the Club to preserve traditional cultural identity, Binh Yen village also propagates and mobilizes artisans to teach traditional costume embroidery techniques to the younger generation. With the motto of the elderly teaching the young, those who know a lot teaching those who do not know, many women in Binh Yen village have mastered the embroidery of costumes and items used in daily life.
Head of Binh Yen village, Ban Van Bao, said: The village has 157 households with more than 700 people, mainly Dao ethnic people. Currently, she is still in the village preserving the language, writing, traditional costumes, coming-of-age ceremony, jumping festival, and the same year festival... of the Dao people. This is a favorable condition toeducate the younger generation to be aware of preserving the cultural identity of the Dao people.
To preserve and promote traditional cultural values, Cam Binh commune annually develops plans and coordinates with all levels, sectors and specialized agencies to do a good job of preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities. Directing villages to establish traditional cultural and artistic clubs and organize many competitions, performances and cultural and artistic exchanges that attract a large number of people to participate. Thereby, creating a driving force to promote the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" to develop more and more. Currently, the rate of "Cultural families" in Cam Binh commune reaches more than 90.2%, the rate of poor households in the commune has decreased to 1.63%, and the average income per capita reaches more than 52.7 million VND/year.
Secretary of Cam Binh Commune Party Committee Ngo Van Hanh said: The commune has 3 ethnic groups living, of which ethnic minorities are the majority. To preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, the commune continues to direct the villages to promote propaganda and raise people's awareness of the importance of preserving ethnic cultural identity. Focus on promoting the creative spirit and the desire to contribute of artisans to pass on traditional cultural values to the younger generation. Pay attention to supporting the villages to renovate cultural houses, purchase musical instruments and ethnic costumes to help clubs and art troupes have favorable conditions to practice.
