FBI agent Kevin Rojek announced the information on July 29. Al Jazeera reported that former President Donald Trump also confirmed his participation in the FBI interview, and expressed his wish for the interview to take place on August 1.

According to Mr. Rojek, this interview is a form of communication with the victim, which is part of the FBI's standard procedure when investigating a crime.

Regarding the assassination that took place on July 13 in Pennsylvania , Mr. Kevin Rojek revealed some new information about the perpetrator.

Specifically, through more than 450 interviews, the FBI sketched a portrait of the gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, showing that the subject was a very intelligent 20-year-old but reclusive young man, had a closed relationship only within his family and had very few friends or acquaintances.

Even on the online gaming platforms Crooks visited, he had little interaction with friends.

The FBI has not yet determined a motive for the crime, but investigators believe the shooting was the result of meticulous planning, with the subject using an alias to purchase chemical precursors in the months leading up to the assassination, and deploying a drone about 200 feet from where Mr. Trump met with supporters, hours before the event took place.

The FBI added that the day before the shooting, Crooks went to a local shooting range and practiced with the gun used in the attack.

Before the assassination, Crooks also showed interest in famous public figures online, searching online for information about many people, including President Joe Biden.

In addition, Crooks sought information about mass shootings, improvised explosive devices, power plants, and the May assassination attempt on Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Meanwhile, Fox News said there are many new details related to security work before the shooting.

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, a Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, released text messages from members of the Beaver City, Iowa Emergency Response Unit.

According to these messages, local officers shared with each other about a man behaving suspiciously, Crooks, lurking around the scene more than an hour before the shooting.

Several photos of Crooks were shared in the group, and one officer reported losing track of him. Another officer said a meeting with the snipers was needed to prepare for the worst, but the meeting never took place.

In an email sent on July 29, the Secret Service was asked to explain this detail, but has not yet received a response.

In the failed assassination attempt, Mr. Trump was hit by a bullet through his right ear. The shooter was immediately shot dead by a US Secret Service sniper. The FBI is currently investigating the incident.
