Three months ago, the family of Ms. Thi Byul, a M'nong ethnic group in Bu Sop hamlet, Quang Truc commune, was surprised when her breeding cow gave birth to a pair of calves. Her breeding cow received support from the national target program one year ago.

This is a rare case in cattle farming, making the whole Bu Sop village excited to share the joy with Thi Byul's family. Being a poor household, Thi Byul's family lives on 650 coffee trees, but due to lack of investment capital, their income is unstable.

Since receiving support for cows, she has not only gained more assets but also taken advantage of the source of composted manure to fertilize the coffee. This helps the coffee grow better, saves costs and improves productivity.

Similarly, in 2023, the family of Ms. Thi Nghinh, a M'nong ethnic group, Bu Lum hamlet, Quang Truc commune, received support for a cow from the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction.

This is a valuable asset for a poor household like hers. After a period of care, the cow gave birth to a healthy calf. She shared that her family mainly lives on 4 sao of coffee and works for hire, so their income is unstable.

Since having the cow, the family has had more manure to fertilize the coffee, reducing investment costs. "This cow is like a long-term capital source. We appreciate it very much," Ms. Thi Nghinh confided.

Quang Truc Commune has more than 47% of its population being ethnic minorities. In the period 2022 - 2024, through national target programs, the commune has implemented dozens of production development projects for poor households, focusing mainly on supporting breeding Sind crossbred cows and crossbred fighting chickens.

In total, 310 cows and nearly 6,400 chickens were distributed by the commune to support people who are poor, near-poor or have just escaped poverty.

Quang Truc Commune, Tuy Duc District (Dak Nong) develops cattle breeding models to help people escape poverty.

Support for livestock does not stop at the distribution stage, but is systematically organized from demand surveys, meetings, selecting suitable households, training in care techniques, disease prevention, building capital turnover models, etc.

This helps people proactively approach and master the model, gradually escaping the habit of small-scale, unskilled farming and moving towards sustainability.

Mr. Doan Minh Thuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Truc commune, said that the highlight of the support programs is to help people form a production mindset and appreciate livestock as an investment asset.

In addition to providing breeds and materials, the commune also organizes for households to participate in learning techniques and calculating the efficiency of livestock farming. These are important steps for people to do business more proactively.

To improve the effectiveness of support, after providing seeds, local authorities have organized many inspections, monitoring, reminders and timely technical support for people.

Tuy Duc District People's Committee assessed that after more than 3 years of implementation, livestock support projects in Quang Truc commune have brought practical income to people.

The success of the projects is also the first step to help people change their production mindset, gradually stabilize their lives and escape poverty.

Through national target programs, many poor and near-poor households in Tuy Duc border district, especially ethnic minorities, have had more conditions to develop their economy and improve their lives.
