According to the exam regulations, high school graduation scores have separate calculation formulas for two groups of subjects: high school students and students studying continuing education.
Specifically, for high school students, the graduation score (GPA) includes 70% of the high school graduation exam results and 30% of the 12th grade learning results.
The calculation formula is as follows: Take the average score of 4 high school graduation exams (including incentive points) multiplied by 7 plus the average score of the entire 12th grade multiplied by 3, then divide this total by a factor of 10 and add the priority points.
Average score = {(Total score of 4 high school graduation exams + Total incentive points)/4 x 7 + Average score of the whole year of grade 12 x 3}/10 + Priority points.
For students studying the high school continuing education program, the formula for calculating GPA is as follows:
Average score = {(Total score of 3 high school graduation exams/3 + Total incentive score/4) x 7 + Average score of the whole year of grade 12 x 3}/10 + Priority score.

For high school students, incentive points are bonus points for excellent student awards in cultural subjects, arts, sports, and science and technology competitions at provincial level or higher according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The minimum recommended score is 1 and the maximum is 2.
For continuing education students, the minimum incentive score is 1 and the maximum score is 4 for candidates with a vocational certificate, secondary school diploma, foreign language or computer certificate as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Priority points are points applied to policy subjects such as wounded soldiers, heroes of the armed forces, ethnic minorities, people in areas with special economic difficulties, island communes, border communes, people infected with toxic chemicals...
Priority points from 0.25 to 0.5 points.
In case a candidate is eligible to take the exam but does not have the average score for the entire 12th grade year as prescribed, only the scores of the high school graduation exams will be used to calculate the graduation recognition score.
Also according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are 3 subjects exempted from the high school graduation exam .
These are: students summoned to participate in the national team selection exam for international or regional Olympic competitions in cultural subjects; students in teams participating in international or regional Olympic competitions in science and technology, culture and arts; people with especially severe disabilities and people with severe disabilities.
At 8:00 a.m. on July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the 2024 high school graduation exam scores.
