According to the exam regulations, graduation scores depend not only on high school graduation exam results but also on 12th grade learning results.
Specifically, for high school students, the graduation exam score (GPA) is calculated according to the following formula:
High school graduation exam score = {(Total score of 4 high school graduation exams + total incentive score)/4 x 7 + average score of the whole year of grade 12 x 3}/10 + priority points.
In there:
– Total score of 4 exams including: Math + Literature + English + average score of the combined exam;
– Average score for the entire 12th grade year: Calculated by the formula (GPA of semester 1 + GPA of semester 2×2)/3;
– Priority points include: Priority points for subjects and priority points for regions.
For students studying the high school continuing education program, the formula for calculating GPA is as follows:
Average score = {(Total score of 3 high school graduation exams/3 + total incentive score/4) x 7 + average score of the whole year of grade 12 x 3}/10 + priority points.
In which, total score of 3 exams: Math + Literature + average score of combined exam.
Yes, the incentive points are bonus points for excellent student awards in cultural subjects, arts, sports, science and technology competitions at provincial level or higher according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. The minimum incentive point is 1 and the maximum is 2.
For continuing education students, the minimum incentive score is 1 and the maximum is 4 for candidates with a vocational certificate, secondary school diploma, foreign language or computer certificate according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Priority points are points applied to policy subjects such as wounded soldiers, heroes of the armed forces, ethnic minorities, people in areas with special economic difficulties, island and border communes, and people infected with toxic chemicals.
Priority points range from 0.25 to 0.5 points. In case a candidate is eligible to take the exam but does not have the average score for the entire 12th grade year according to regulations, only the scores of the high school graduation exams will be used to calculate the graduation recognition score.
Also according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are 3 groups exempted from the high school graduation exam, including: Students summoned to participate in the national team selection exam to compete in international or regional Olympic competitions in cultural subjects; students in teams participating in international or regional Olympic competitions in science, technology, culture and arts; people with especially severe disabilities and people with severe disabilities.
