How to open an account without going to the bank

Normally, when customers want to open an account, they have to go directly to the bank counter to do the procedure. This takes a lot of time and is inconvenient for those who have to work during office hours. However, many banks now allow opening an account online right at home, which is much faster and more convenient.

Conditions for opening a bank account

To open a bank account, customers need to meet the following conditions:

Nationality: To open an account, customers must be Vietnamese citizens. If they are foreigners, they must have full documents proving their right to reside in Vietnam in accordance with the law.

According to Clause 1, Article 11 of Circular 23/2014/TT-NHNN, the age of customers allowed to open a bank account is specified as follows:

- People aged 18 and over: This is the age when they have civil capacity and will be responsible before the law. Therefore, they can make their own decisions and make independent financial transactions.

- People from 15 years old to under 18 years old who have a Citizen Identification Card (CCCD) or National Identity Card (ID), are not restricted or have lost civil act capacity.

- People under 15 years old who want to open an account must go through a legal representative.

How to open an online account at home

To open an account at home, customers need to download the application of the bank they want to open a card on Google Play and AppStore. Below are a few prominent banks that support account registration via the application.

Techcombank

Step 1: Download the Mobile Banking application via CH Play or AppStore and select Open account.

Step 2: Enter phone number and get OTP verification code

Take a photo of your ID card/CCCD: Select Start taking photos > Take photos of the front and back. Then confirm your personal information.

Step 3: Choose account number: Customers can choose to use a regular account or a beautiful account number according to their personal preferences and needs.

Step 4: Confirm card receipt and select card type

Step 7: Go to home page and make transaction

Vietcombank

Customers can register for an online account via the bank's application. After successfully opening and depositing money, users can use the account immediately for transactions. However, if you want to issue an ATM card according to the account, customers need to go directly to the nearest Vietcombank transaction office.

Step 1: Download Vietcombank app on Appstore/Google Play.

Step 3: Enter phone number and verify phone number.

Step 4: Take a photo of your ID and verify your face.

Step 5: Select service and complete registration.
