On the morning of November 18, Hanoi National University coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Training to organize a meeting with representatives of teachers and education managers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
Challenges from within the process of educational innovation
Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the country's education and training have achieved many successes, but are still facing many major challenges.
“Perhaps the biggest challenge is from within, from within the process of educational innovation. That is the challenge of innovation, surpassing oneself, denying oneself as a transformation for development. Facing the era of national development, education needs a transformation from within, to move towards higher quality, towards an education that develops people comprehensively, creates good citizens and high-quality human resources. Innovation in education must change old habits, ways of thinking, ways of thinking and doing, overcome limits for breakthrough development,” said Minister Nguyen Kim Son.
According to Mr. Son, to overcome these challenges, the education sector, especially the team of teachers, needs to make great efforts, be constantly creative and have accurate and correct solutions.
"The world is in a period of epochal change, competition between major countries is increasingly fierce, in which competition over the quality of human resources determines the development opportunities of each country and is identified as the core. The 4th industrial revolution, the formation of a knowledge-based economy, a knowledge-based society; the requirement to transform the economic model from breadth to depth, restructuring the economy towards quality, efficiency, and high competitiveness... have promoted educational innovation to become a global trend and Vietnam cannot stand outside that trend. To complete the strategic goals of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, bringing the country firmly into the era of rising up, the era of prosperity, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, high-quality human resources continue to be identified by the 10th Central Conference of the 13th tenure as a strategic breakthrough and educational innovation is the task and strategic solution of the 14th Congress...", General Secretary To Lam said at the meeting. |
On the occasion of November 20, the Minister of Education and Training also had a few words to discuss with teachers. According to Mr. Son, education worldwide is facing challenges due to the explosion of knowledge, challenges of artificial intelligence, robots, the Internet of Things, big data, supercomputers, virtual schools, with new teaching methods and tools. The emergence of new factors makes many people question and doubt the existence of school education and the role of teachers in the future.
"We need to face the challenges, not avoid them, not be afraid. We stand firmly on the foundation of educational science and the courage of teachers to embrace the advantages of the times, to take advantage of the advantages, to develop faster. Artificial intelligence does not and cannot replace humans. The role of teachers cannot be replaced," said Mr. Son.
Mr. Son believes that the new education system will fail if it only focuses on providing knowledge, but it would be a mistake to completely abandon knowledge. It is necessary to equip students with basic knowledge so that they can use it as a tool for thinking, teaching them the ability to adapt and self-study to develop themselves in the future.
Building a new team of teachers
The Minister of Education and Training emphasized that, faced with new challenges, with an increasingly large and new mission for education, teachers in the new era also need to demonstrate their mettle, considering challenges as opportunities for the entire force to develop, for each teacher to become better.
General Secretary To Lam said: "It is necessary to focus on building a team of teachers and educational managers who are virtuous and talented, who are passionate, enthusiastic, skilled, knowledgeable, have the ability to impart knowledge, are eager to learn, and are innovative and creative, and are truly role models for students to learn from and follow; sufficient in number and consistent in structure...". |
The greater the challenge, the more teachers need to return to stand firm, consolidate the core values of teachers to create a new class of intellectuals, a new team of teachers. Values from tradition such as "learning without getting bored, teaching without getting tired", the spirit of tolerance, altruism, sacrifice, the great and profound love for humanity, the spirit of always renewing oneself, overcoming limits to guide learners, the spirit of daily renewal, self-study, self-adaptation to guide students.
The limits of teachers are the limits of education, the limits of education are the limits of a country's development. Teachers need to turn limits into limitless ones.
The head of the education sector sent a message to students: “You are the ones who have made the achievements of education and the success and growth of teachers. Without students, there would be nothing for teachers to do. In the new era, I hope you will study hard, be confident to express yourself, and study proactively and positively. You need to be confident, self-reliant, self-reliant, self-reliant, actively express and assert yourself in your studies, but still have to be polite and respectful to your teachers.”
