Errors related to motorcycle steering

Pursuant to Point d, Clause 1, Point a Clause 3 and Point c Clause 12, Article 6 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, it is stipulated that:

“Article 6. Penalties for drivers and passengers of motorbikes, mopeds (including electric motorbikes), motorbike-like vehicles and moped-like vehicles violating road traffic rules

1. A fine of VND 100,000 to VND 200,000 shall be imposed for one of the following violations:

d) Changing direction without giving the right of way to: Pedestrians, wheelchairs of the disabled crossing the road at a crosswalk; non-motorized vehicles traveling on the roadway reserved for non-motorized vehicles.

d) Changing direction without giving way to: Vehicles going in the opposite direction; pedestrians, wheelchairs of disabled people crossing the street at places without crosswalks.

3. A fine of VND 400,000 to VND 600,000 shall be imposed for one of the following violations:

a) Changing direction without slowing down or signaling (except when driving along a curved road section where the roads do not intersect at the same level).

10. In addition to being fined, the driver committing the violation shall also be subject to the following additional penalties:

c) … Committing an act specified in one of the following points and clauses of this Article and causing a traffic accident shall result in the revocation of the right to use a driving license from 02 months to 04 months: Point a, point g, point h, point k, point l, point m, point n, point q clause 1; point b, point d, point e, point g, point l, point m clause 2; point b, point c, point k, point m clause 3; point dd, point e, point g, point h clause 4 of this Article”.

According to the above regulations, errors related to motorbike steering include the following errors:

- Changing direction without giving the right of way to: Pedestrians, wheelchairs of the disabled crossing the road at a crosswalk; non-motorized vehicles traveling on the roadway reserved for non-motorized vehicles. When violating this rule, the driver will be fined from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND.

- Changing direction without giving way to: Vehicles going in the opposite direction; pedestrians, wheelchairs of disabled people crossing the street where there are no pedestrian crossings. When violating this violation, the driver will also be fined from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND.

- Changing direction without slowing down or signaling (except when driving along a curved road section where the roads do not intersect at the same level). The driver will be fined from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND if violating.

At the same time, if one of the above violations causes a traffic accident, the driver's license will be revoked for 2 to 4 months.
