The tournament is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province in coordination with the Vietnam Chess Federation. This is the most important professional tournament for young athletes in the national chess competition system.

The tournament attracted the participation of 1,300 athletes from 53 provincial, municipal and industry delegations nationwide. This is also one of the youth tournaments attracting the most players in the national competition system.
Lao Cai Province Sports Training and Competition Center sent a delegation to the tournament with 21 young athletes in the age groups U6,7,8,9,10,11,13,15, competing in 4 categories including rapid chess, blitz chess, traditional chess, standard chess for individual and team content.

With great effort and determination, Lao Cai chess players won 12 medals of all kinds, including 1 Gold Medal, 6 Silver Medals and 5 Bronze Medals.
In the individual category, player Pham Nhu Y competed in the U10 age group and won the Gold Medal in the Standard Chess Individual category, the Silver Medal in the Rapid Chess Individual category and the Silver Medal in the Blitz Chess Individual category. Nhu Y and her U10 teammates also won the Silver Medal in the Blitz Chess Team category, the Silver Medal in the Standard Chess Team category and the Bronze Medal in the Rapid Chess Team category.

Lao Cai athletes also won a Silver Medal in the U6 blitz chess team and 5 Bronze medals in various chess categories of different age groups.
This result shows that Lao Cai has a generation of quality young players. This is the premise for Lao Cai chess to achieve high results in chess tournaments and national sports festivals in the future.
