This year, three young photographers studying in high school in Hanoi will participate in the International Photography Festival for high school students taking place in the “city of photography” Higashikawa, Hokkaido Island, Japan from August 19-25.

The International Photography Festival for High School Students in Japan has been a familiar competition for young people who love photography for many years. This year, the festival has the participation of 21 international teams and 2 Japanese teams.

In early 2024, NSNA Ba Han organized a photo contest "Proud things about my city" from which three outstanding students were selected to participate in the festival in Japan.

Artist Nguyen Ba Han is the bridge between Vietnamese contestants and this festival under the introduction of the Japan Photographic Association.

This year, the students selected to represent Vietnam to form a team to participate in the International Photography Festival are: Hoang Ngoc Khanh (Kim Lien High School, Dong Da, Hanoi); Nguyen Thao Tien (Doan Thi Diem High School, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi); Hoang Tue Lam (Bao Long High School, Gia Lam, Hanoi).

This is the 9th Vietnamese team to participate in the competition and the team is named Ha Long - the name of Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh), a wonder and a World Natural Heritage Site honored by UNESCO three times. Previously, some Vietnamese teams that participated in the Festival were named Ben Tre team, Tay Ninh team, Hoi An team...

The program is organized with the aim of encouraging and developing the photography movement for students in Vietnam, creating conditions for students to demonstrate their photography talent, helping them enhance their ability to observe life, fostering young photography talents so that they can interact with their peers around the world.

Present at the launch and exchange of the NCLLPB House, Photographer Chu Chi Thanh gave many words of encouragement to the Ha Long team. He expressed his joy at seeing a young generation continuing the proud tradition of Vietnamese photography.

“Participating in a foreign playground with many international friends, you should be humble and brave, but most importantly, do not let yourself be influenced by surrounding factors. Use your head and heart to find beauty and topics and then boldly press the shutter,” Mr. Chu Chi Thanh shared.

Ha Long Team will officially attend the International Photography Festival with members of 23 teams from 21 countries around the world in Higashikawa City, Hokkaido Island, Japan from August 19 to August 25, 2024.
