No longer confined by the stereotype of "mobile vases", many Vietnamese beauty queens are asserting their mettle in the marketplace, holding leadership roles in businesses.
Taking on the positions of vice president and director is the way beauty queens prove their worth, showing their beauty, intelligence and bravery.
Sharing about facing the "mobile vase" prejudice, Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, the new CEO of Miss World Vietnam 2025, said: "In the past, we have seen many women lacking control and not being prioritized for leadership positions. This prejudice exists not only in the beauty industry but also in many other industries.
However, I choose to develop myself instead of being influenced by these notions."
Miss Bao Ngoc focuses on proving her ability through actions, while using her voice to influence and encourage women to pursue their passions without being bound by stereotypes.
For her, beauty contests not only honor beauty but are also an opportunity for young people to reveal their potential, aim for sustainable values and contribute to the community.
In fact, it is not unusual for beauty queens to develop in the business field and become business managers.
A typical example is Miss Do My Linh, who holds the position of Vice President of the Commercial Center Management Company of T&T Group, a group owned by her husband's family.
It is known that 29-year-old businesswoman Do My Linh took on this position a few months ago.
Not only Do My Linh, Miss Do Thi Ha, the beauty crowned Miss Vietnam 2020, also made her mark in the business field.
In August 2023, she contributed 50% of the capital (equivalent to 5 billion VND) to establish Adela Group Company Limited, specializing in specialized clinics and aesthetics.
Similarly, Miss International Queen 2018 Huong Giang also demonstrated her business acumen. She took advantage of her influence on social networks to develop her online sales sector.
In 2019, Huong Giang established her own company called Huong Giang Entertainment, operating in the entertainment industry. Thanks to a methodical development strategy, by April 2023, this enterprise had increased its charter capital from 2 billion VND to 10 billion VND.
Despite being a business owner, Huong Giang still regularly livestreams to sell products. In the first livestream lasting 5 hours, she and her team announced that they had reached a revenue of 1.02 billion VND.
Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 Ngoc Chau also affirmed her management ability when she was appointed National Director of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest in June 2024.
The fact that beauty queens take on leadership positions not only shows their increasingly important role in businesses but also contributes to changing society's perception of beauty queens in the business field.
Responding to Dan Tri reporter, Miss World Vietnam 2025 Executive Director, Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc said: "My advice for women is to focus on what you believe in most, what you feel is valuable for yourself and society.
As for the rest, time will show the results of your efforts. You must be confident, and whether or not you are recognized is just a secondary reward, don't take it as the final destination."
