In order to prepare for the end of 2024 and be ready for the peak of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has directed airlines to arrange and balance transportation resources, coordinate with ground service units to ensure appropriate load supply. Airlines are required to launch early sales of air tickets for the Tet period so that passengers can choose and develop appropriate travel plans; speed up the process of receiving new leased/purchased aircraft and re-operate aircraft that have completed engine repair and maintenance from the manufacturer. According to reports from Vietnamese airlines, in the coming time, airlines are expected to continue to receive and plan to rent additional aircraft to supplement the existing fleet. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines is expected to receive 3 more aircraft (2 A320 aircraft and 1 B787-10 aircraft); Vietjet Air is expected to receive 8 A321 aircraft and 2 E190 aircraft (E190 aircraft serving the Hanoi-Con Dao route are temporarily suspended after Bamboo Airways returned the aircraft and restructured). In addition, Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines are also planning to increase the number of aircraft in operation to match their capacity and market development needs)... To contribute to reducing pressure on domestic airfares due to market supply and demand factors, since the beginning of 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has implemented synchronous and effective solutions to ensure and stabilize the air transport force to provide appropriate and balanced loads on domestic/international routes and markets, well meeting the air travel needs of passengers. Specifically, the Civil Aviation Authority focuses on solutions to facilitate airlines to hire additional aircraft; adjust aircraft operating hours, reduce aircraft turnaround time to transfer flights, optimize aircraft operating hours during the day; increase flights in the evening and night time; increase coordination parameters at key airports during peak periods and in accordance with market forecasts; directing units/enterprises in the aviation industry to review procedures, closely coordinate with airlines to ensure operations and passenger service... "In fact, the implemented solutions have brought about positive results, partially compensating for the shortage of capacity due to the reduction in the aircraft fleet. The Authority will continue to strengthen the implementation of monitoring and supervision of ticket price developments and require businesses to implement measures to declare prices, post prices, and publicize price information according to legal regulations; as well as recommending that passengers plan to book tickets early to have more options with suitable ticket prices," the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority emphasized.
With the recall of some aircraft engines, the Vietnamese aviation industry is facing a serious shortage of aircraft, making airfares during the upcoming summer peak season scarcer and more expensive.
