Latest information from Vietnam Airlines, the airline has just signed a cooperation agreement with the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam Vietcombank to arrange capital for the project to invest in 50 narrow-body aircraft.

Accordingly, Vietcombank will arrange prepayments and long-term loans for the airline in the period 2026-2032. The project to purchase 50 narrow-body aircraft is part of the fleet development strategy for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2040.

The total investment of the project is estimated at about 3.7 billion USD, equivalent to 92,800 billion VND, including modern aircraft such as Airbus A320NEO or Boeing 737 MAX, along with 10 spare engines.

Vietnam Airlines aims to complete investment procedures, select suppliers and sign aircraft purchase contracts in the first half of 2025, in order to keep delivery schedules in line with flight network development plans.

To optimize cash flow, the airline plans to apply the sale and leaseback model for the first 25 aircraft delivered in the 2028-2030 period.

For the remaining 25 aircraft to be received from 2030-2031, Vietnam Airlines will combine equity and commercial loans, with the loan ratio accounting for about 50% of the aircraft value.

Not only Vietnam Airlines, private airline Vietjet is also accelerating its fleet investment. Vietjet and AV AirFinance have just signed a cooperation agreement worth a total of 300 million USD.

AV AirFinance is part of the US investment group KKR, specializing in providing commercial aircraft financing solutions to airlines, aircraft leasing companies, cargo carriers and investors.

These agreements are aimed at serving Vietjet's new fleet development plan, with nearly 300 aircraft expected to be delivered from 2025 - 2027.

Vietjet currently operates more than 115 aircraft and has ordered more than 400 more to serve its international flight network expansion strategy.

Meanwhile, Vietravel Airlines and Bamboo Airways are promoting the leasing of more aircraft.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , after Mr. Hien's T&T joined the investment in Vietravel Airlines, the company is planning to add more planes in the near future. Bamboo Airways continues to plan to rent planes to serve the summer peak season.
