On the afternoon of November 1, comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected winter crop production in Kien Xuong and Vu Thu districts. Accompanying him were comrade Dang Thanh Giang, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

With the motto of "using winter crops to compensate for summer crops", maximizing the area of ​​winter crops to increase the value of the agricultural sector, in recent times, localities in the province have focused highly on winter crop production. Up to now, the winter crop area has been planted at about 28,800 hectares, reaching nearly 80% of the plan, mainly corn, melons, squash and various vegetables. Of which, Kien Xuong district has planted 3,010 hectares/3,850 hectares; Vu Thu district has planted 3,700 hectares/5,200 hectares.

According to the agricultural sector, winter crops are growing and developing quite favorably, of which over 2,100 hectares of warm-season winter crops have been harvested, mainly squash and various vegetables. Currently, the agricultural sector continues to coordinate with localities to guide and urge the planting of cold-season crops, mainly potatoes and various vegetables within the seasonal framework, contributing to increasing farmers' income.

Inspecting the actual winter crop production in Vu An commune (Kien Xuong), Trung An commune (Vu Thu), comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the agricultural sector and localities to focus on directing the planting and care of winter crops; harvesting warm-loving crops that are ready for harvest, at the same time expanding the area of ​​cold-loving winter crops, striving for the winter crop area in 2024 to reach 40,000 hectares or more to develop the crop industry and promote the advantages of winter crops in the province. In particular, maintaining and developing traditional crop growing areas, high-value crops, and stable consumption markets. Expanding the area of ​​safe production, production according to good agricultural practices (VietGAP), organic standards; promoting chain linkage in product consumption.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the agricultural sector to assign cadres to strengthen the grassroots level, coordinate with localities to urge and guide planting techniques, care, pest and disease prevention and control, and protect the winter crop area to achieve the highest yield; inspect, urge and guide localities to implement the issued production support mechanisms and policies to ensure strictness, correct targets and effectiveness.

Visiting the vegetable production area according to VietGAP standards and some models of introducing new crop varieties into production of Trung An Green Agriculture Cooperative, Trung An commune, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee commended and highly appreciated the Cooperative for actively and boldly introducing new crop varieties with high economic value associated with linkage and consumption into production; applying scientific and technical advances, providing the market with safe agricultural products. At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was assigned to research and propose support mechanisms to develop and replicate safe and organic production models to increase the value and efficiency of production, towards sustainable development of the crop industry.
