According to the report of the National Steering Committee 389, in the first 6 months of 2024, the situation of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border did not have much fluctuation compared to the same period last year. However, the situation of buying and selling, transporting food, electronic products and prohibited goods across the border between Vietnam and China, Laos and Cambodia is still complicated; the situation of trade fraud through import and export, trade fraud in the domestic area still occurs.
Some emerging tricks include taking advantage of undeclared export activities of various types of goods, high-value consignments, and activities on e-commerce platforms and air routes. In the first 6 months of the year, authorities detected and handled 64,185 cases, collecting more than 6,000 billion VND for the state budget, prosecuting 650 cases and more than 1,900 subjects.
The National Steering Committee 389 believes that the country's economy will continue to recover and develop positively in the remaining months of 2024. Smuggling, trade fraud, trading and transporting of prohibited goods will increase. In particular, e-commerce activities with sophisticated tricks will cause difficulties for the authorities.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang requested ministries, sectors and localities to strictly implement the Government's directives; continue to review and propose difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process to effectively combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, especially at the end of the year and during the holidays.
