The Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) has just announced the results of the national excellent student exam. Accordingly, the National Excellent Student Exam Council for the 2023-2024 school year has selected 3,359 prize-winning candidates, accounting for 55.79%. Compared to the 2022-2023 school year, the number of candidates participating in the exam was 4,589; 2,283 candidates won prizes, accounting for 49.75%.

The national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year will be held on January 5-6. Nationwide, 5,812 candidates from 70 units participated in the exam in 12 subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French and Chinese.
The Ministry of Education and Training said that the exam marking was organized in accordance with the regulations of the exam, ensuring the requirements of safety, seriousness, accuracy, objectivity and fairness.
According to the regulations of the exam, within 15 days from the date of announcement of the results, candidates have the right to request a review of their exam. Also from this year, in addition to the certificates for the winning students, the remaining students will also be recognized with a certificate of participation in the exam.
According to the new exam regulations issued from October 10, 2023, applied from this year's exam, the total number of consolation prizes and above must not exceed 60% of the number of candidates taking the exam; in which the total number of first, second, and third prizes must not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes; the number of first prizes must not exceed 5% of the total number of prizes.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the regulation that the number of students winning prizes this year increased by 10% compared to last year has motivated and encouraged students to study and practice hard. The results of the exam and the ranking of prizes show that the number of students winning prizes this year has been spread across the country. Some mountainous and border areas with difficult socio-economic conditions have students achieving the highest rankings in the exam.
According to the plan, in March 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2024, for the subjects of math, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
