CP Vietnam attends the program "Meeting Thailand for the 2nd time" in Lao Cai

From August 28-30, 2024, the second "Meet Thailand" program was held in Lao Cai province, Vietnam. Following the success of the first "Meet Thailand" program held in Quang Tri, this program opened up new investment prospects with nearly 400 corporations and enterprises attending the Conference. Representatives of CP Vietnam included Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Senior Deputy General Director, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia - Deputy General Director, Mr. Sakchai Chatchaisophon - Deputy General Director, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Assistant Deputy General Director attended the program.

Within the framework of the program, the conference “Connecting Lao Cai - Thailand” took place with the theme “Lao Cai - a successful destination”. The conference, chaired by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh, helped introduce and promote the province's potential, advantages, and investment attraction orientation to Thai investors, connecting businesses of Vietnam and Thailand. The representative of the Government of Vietnam attending the program “Connecting Lao Cai - Thailand”, Mr. Sakchai Chatchaisophon - Deputy General Director attended the conference and visited Lao Cai international border gate with the delegation.

Representatives of CP Vietnam and agencies and organizations attended the program "Connecting Lao Cai - Thailand". Then, on August 29, 2024, at the event: "Opening ceremony of displaying Thai-Vietnamese products", CP Vietnam participated in displaying and introducing products of prestigious and quality foods of CP Vietnam to Lao Cai people at Go Lao Cai Trade Center. The program with 36 typical booths of enterprises, cooperatives, distributors of Vietnamese-Thai products and hundreds of Ocop products of Lao Cai, household products of Thailand attracted visitors to come and shop.

On the same morning, at the Provincial Conference Center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Thai Embassy in Vietnam and Lao Cai Province to organize the 2nd "Meeting Thailand" Conference. Attending the conference on behalf of central ministries and branches were Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association; Nguyen Nhu Hieu, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; leaders of a number of ministries, branches, and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry.

On behalf of the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, there was Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, along with nearly 400 Thai and Vietnamese enterprises. Representing CPVietnam were Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Senior Deputy General Director, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy General Director, and Deputy General Directors who also participated in the program.

The 2nd Thailand Meet is a continuation and expansion of the cooperative relationship between Thailand and Lao Cai province after the official visit to Vietnam by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The Ambassador highly appreciated the potential, advantages and importance of Lao Cai province as a center for transportation, logistics and transport. This event will contribute to upgrading the cooperation relationship in logistics and trade between the two countries. It is also an opportunity for Thai businesses and investors to know and seek trade and investment opportunities in Lao Cai province, promoting Thailand to Lao Cai province and vice versa.

The conference also held two discussion sessions with the topics: “Connecting the grassroots economy and supply chain”; “Connecting culture and sustainable tourism”. At the same time, the Lao Cai Provincial Business Association and the Thai Business Association in Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement between the two sides. The second “Meet Thailand” event in Lao Cai was a great success, bringing many impressions between the two sides - Thailand and Lao Cai province in particular, and the areas of the Northern Midlands and Mountains.
