This 4th Vietnamese Language Festival is organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia in coordination with the Russia - Vietnam Cooperation Promotion Fund "Tradition and Friendship", the Vietnamese Association "Solidarity" in Ulyanovsk, and the "Reading with Children" Club.
The event marked a new development in the journey of spreading Vietnamese language and culture to the Vietnamese community in Russia in general, as well as promoting cultural and linguistic exchanges between Vietnam and Russia, and was even more meaningful when it took place at Ho Chi Minh High School No. 76 in Ulyanovsk. The local government was also very interested in this event. Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ulyanovsk Oblast Evgeny Miller and representatives of the government and educational management agencies of the province and city attended and delivered congratulatory speeches.

In front of local guests, organizers and 50 Vietnamese and Russian students, the youngest of whom were only 6-7 years old, and parents interested in Vietnamese, Ms. Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa, in charge of the education department of the Vietnamese Embassy, read a letter from Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi welcoming the event. In the letter, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi quoted beloved Uncle Ho emphasizing: “Language is an extremely ancient and extremely precious asset of the nation. We must preserve it, cherish it, and make it more and more widespread.”
In order to honor and promote the value of Vietnamese language, creating opportunities for the overseas Vietnamese community to preserve, conserve and develop their mother tongue, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has chosen September 8 every year as the Day to honor Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community, with many cultural, artistic and exchange activities, especially interesting experiences for young people from abroad and Vietnam.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi believes that the program will create positive emotions, arouse interest and learn about Vietnamese language and culture in children born and raised in an environment far from their homeland, without the conditions to practice their mother tongue. This will not only help them be proud of their national origin but also create a solid foundation for friendly and sustainable relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
The Vietnamese language experience program, designed by Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh, head of the "Reading with Children" Club, is like a trip to the open sea. Under the "helm" of Captain Thuy Anh, 4 "little sailors" including Russian and Vietnamese children competed to overcome the "waves" of spelling and recognizing Vietnamese letters through visual images, gradually feeling the attraction of the "Vietnamese ocean", being encouraged and cheered on each time they overcame the challenge, confidently "holding the wheel" to explore. The unique features of Vietnamese language and culture, from language, cuisine, costumes to customs, were introduced through games and were welcomed by all the children with laughter and shining eyes.
Director of the “Tradition and Friendship” Fund Nguyen Quoc Hung, on behalf of the organizers, said that this is the first time the Vietnamese Language Festival has taken place at a Russian high school because he wants to reach the next generation, to sow the seeds of language from a very young age, hoping that even though they grow up far from their homeland, they will still feel their roots, be proud of their roots and always carry in their hearts the Vietnamese soul full of compassion, love for their homeland and country.

The Vietnamese community “Doan Ket” has long been officially recognized in Ulyanovsk, with the awareness of integration and building a second homeland, the community has always received support and recognition from the local government. Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs E. Miller said that the “Doan Ket” community, headed by Chairman Trinh Van Que, has been officially registered as a legal entity in Ulyanovsk and is very prestigious with the provincial government for its contributions and efforts to develop cooperation between Ulyanovsk and Vietnamese partners in many fields: economy, culture and education. Mr. Miller also believes in the potential for cooperation between Ulyanovsk province and Nghe An province, the two hometowns of two outstanding proletarian leaders VI Lenin and Ho Chi Minh, and affirmed his readiness to create conditions for establishing cooperative relationships, as well as implementing bilateral projects.
The location of the Vietnamese Language Festival is also very symbolic - Ho Chi Minh High School No. 76, where the museum named after him is located. Over the years, together with the Ho Chi Minh statue on the avenue named after him, also in Ulyanovsk, the museum has become a "Red address" welcoming delegations from Vietnam. The "young guides" who are students of the school can introduce very fully and in detail about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh in Russian and English, showing the school's interest and respect for the Vietnamese leader in general and Vietnamese culture in particular.
Principal of School 76, Ms. Lyudmila Grechko, said that the school was honored to be chosen to organize the Vietnamese Language Festival. From the Vietnamese side, the event is a promotion of culture and language, and from the Russian side, the event is admirable and worth learning in terms of patriotic education, including through respect for beloved President Ho Chi Minh, as well as the attention of the Vietnamese Association and the Embassy to the young generation. She also hopes to organize Vietnamese language teaching at the school as an official subject.
The children's initial excitement for Vietnamese language and culture from the Festival still needs to be nurtured every day so that it can penetrate deeply and spread, like waves overlapping each other to reach the shore, in which the role of family and representative agencies is very important.

The Ambassador affirmed that there will be more practical activities to further foster the solidarity of the community, reward the efforts to preserve traditions, integrate and foster the friendly and sustainable relationship between Vietnam and Russia./.
