According to international media comments, many ambitions will be discussed at the BRICS Summit, such as the new world order, admitting more members, the "campaign" of de-dollarization, a common currency...

But another issue that could make Western leaders "restless" is the possibility that Iran - a country that is escalating tensions with Israel and its ally, the United States - will sign a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement with Moscow at the BRICS "festival" in the central Russian city of Kazan from October 22-24.
It is known that all the conditions for signing the Russia-Iran Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement have been completed. President Putin approved the draft treaty on September 18, and on October 4, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali confirmed that the document was ready for signing.
The signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran is assessed by international analysts to strongly promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation, facilitate the development of joint infrastructure projects and cooperation in the energy sector, and help reduce the pressure of sanctions on both countries.
“If we compare ourselves with other partners, our positions (Russia and Iran) are much more similar. Our positions in the international community are also similar. I hope we will finalize this important agreement during the BRICS Summit in Russia,” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian frankly shared with his Russian counterpart Putin at an international forum in the Turkmenistan capital Ashgabat over the weekend.
Mr. Pezeshkian emphasized that Tehran attaches great importance to its relations with Russia, calling the country Iran's "friend and neighbor", and that the two countries should continue to strengthen relations and support each other. The Iranian leader also stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in BRICS, SCO and EAEU.
Sharing the same view, Russian Leader Putin said that Moscow and Tehran have cooperated with each other in the international arena and their assessments of issues happening in the world are often very similar.
This is the first direct meeting between the Russian and Iranian leaders since Mr. Pezeshkian took office. The two leaders affirmed that they will continue talks during the upcoming BRICS Summit.
Statements by President Putin and Mr. Pezeshkian later confirmed that "the relationship between Moscow and Tehran has never been as good as it is now."
Previously, in a phone call on July 8, just three days after being elected President of Iran, Mr. Pezeshki suggested to President Putin that he was ready to sign a Strategic Partnership Agreement with Russia at the BRICS Summit in October.
The meeting between the Russian and Iranian leaders has attracted public attention both inside and outside the region, because Russia and Iran are in a very special situation, with many similarities. Both sides have the need and potential to support each other very effectively. Certainly, the West is concerned about this, about the "closer" relationship between Moscow and Tehran.
Previously, Russia and Iran were allies in the political, security, military and geostrategic "game" in Syria. Now, Western countries are hostile to Russia because of the military campaign that Moscow is conducting in Ukraine, while there are tensions with Iran over the situation in the Middle East.
Both countries are under economic, trade and financial sanctions from the West. Iran has been in this situation longer, Tehran can provide useful advice to help Russia deal with it more effectively. In this respect, they can also find ways to support each other and coordinate their actions.
Russia is currently holding the rotating presidency of the BRICS group in 2024. Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged to “facilitate the harmonious integration” of the new partners, noting that about 30 other countries have expressed their intention to participate in the bloc's activities in various forms and frameworks.
According to IMF data, BRICS++ has now surpassed the Group of Seven (G7) leading developed economies in terms of GDP based on purchasing power parity, accounting for 36% of the world's total GDP.
