According to AP, at least 4 people were killed and 30 seriously injured in an explosion at a metallurgical plant in Sao Paulo state, southeastern Brazil.

On social network X (formerly Twitter), Sao Paulo state Governor Tarcisio de Freitas said the explosion occurred on the morning of September 1 at an aluminum smelter in the urban area of Cabreuva, about 90km northwest of the capital of Sao Paulo state. Local media reported that the explosion was caused by overheating of the equipment.
The explosion caused a huge fire, according to the Sao Paulo Civil Defense Agency. Footage on Brazilian television stations showed the factory completely destroyed. Two helicopters and several fire engines rushed to the scene to control the fire.
