Volleyball March 30: VietinBank won the ticket to Hung Vuong Cup from Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals

At this year's National Volleyball Championship, VietinBank was not rated too highly. However, the young, ambitious athletes of Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet continuously brought surprises in the first stage.

This time when facing the current runner-up of the Lao Cai Gold Medal, VietinBank once again played excellently. In game 1, there was a time when they let their opponent lead by up to 6 points.

But the adjustments of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet helped the banking team turn the situation around. Things were even more favorable for VietinBank when the main striker Tu Linh of HCĐG Lao Cai had to leave the field because he had not recovered from an injury. Mr. Kiet's team won 25-23 in the first game.

In the second game, foreign player Sharon Chepchumba got injured, making the Lao Cai bronze medal match even more difficult. They almost lost their direction and could not play in a coordinated and smooth manner. VietinBank won 25-22 in this game.

In game 3, the efforts helped HCĐG Lao Cai pull back a game with a 25-21 victory. But VietinBank still controlled the situation in game 4 to end the match with a score of 25-20.

With this victory, VietinBank is sure to end the first phase of the National Volleyball Championship in the top 4.

In the remaining women's match, LPBank Ninh Binh, despite many difficulties, still defeated Geleximco Thai Binh 3-2 (21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-9). They became the only undefeated team in the women's event in phase 1.

Four names in the top 4 and participating in the Hung Vuong Cup were also determined, including LPBank Ninh Binh, VTV Binh Dien Long An, the Northeast Information Corps and VietinBank.

In the men's event, Ho Chi Minh City Police extinguished Sanest Khanh Hoa's hopes with an easy 3-0 win (25-23, 25-23, 26-24). Meanwhile, The Cong needed 5 games to win against the underdog Long An with a score of 3-2 (25-17, 26-28, 25-16, 19-25, 15-10).

The 4 men's teams that have won tickets to the Hung Vuong Cup this year are also determined to be Ho Chi Minh City Police, Border Guard, The Cong and Da Nang. Phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship still has one day left to compete on March 31.
