ANTARA. The 43rd ASEAN Summit took place from September 5-7 in Indonesia with 12 high-level meetings, focusing on discussing four main focuses: establishing the foundation for ASEAN's Long-term Vision, making ASEAN more resilient, making ASEAN a center of economic growth, and transforming the Indo-Pacific into a region of peace and prosperity.

TEMPO. Indonesia introduced and promoted the Sanur Health Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF), held from September 5-6 in Jakarta.

THAI PBS. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and 33 cabinet ministers of Thailand arrived to meet King Maha Vajiralongkorn at Dusit Palace in Bangkok to take the oath of office.

THE STAR. Malaysia is considering regulations that would force Alphabet Inc's Google and Facebook parent Meta to pay for news content from local media outlets.

TGVN. At the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, US President Joe Biden will pay a state visit to Vietnam from September 10-11.

DAILY MIRROR. The Sri Lankan cabinet has approved a proposal to establish diplomatic relations with Comoros, Sao Tome and Principe, while agreements to establish similar relations with six other African countries are pending.

DHAKA TRIBUNE. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay a two-day visit to Bangladesh ahead of the G20 Summit in New Delhi - aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with the South Asian nation.

XINHUA. China has passed a law regulating foreign sovereign immunity , which stipulates rules for Chinese courts to handle civil cases involving other countries and their assets.

YONHAP. ​​The culture ministers of South Korea, Japan and China will hold their 14th trilateral meeting this week to discuss ways to expand cultural exchanges and cooperation.

JORDAN TIMES. Jordan's King Abdullah II met with Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa in the capital Amman, discussing measures to enhance economic, investment, trade and defense cooperation.

ARAB NEWS. Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud announced the establishment of the Riyadh-based Global Water Foundation to strengthen efforts to address water challenges.

TIMES OF ISRAEL. Israel officially opened its new embassy in Bahrain, during Eli Cohen's first visit to Bahrain as Israeli Foreign Minister.

ANADOLU. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis expressed their readiness to improve relations between the two countries after years of tension.

AFP. The European Union Asylum Agency (EUAA) released official figures showing that the number of migrants applying for asylum in the region in the first half of this year increased by 28% compared to the same period last year.

REUTERS. Hanke Bruins Slot , who once worked for the Dutch army in Afghanistan, has been appointed as the country's Foreign Minister.

AFP. Poland's president has announced that the country plans to spend more than 4% of its GDP on defence next year, amid security concerns over the conflict in neighbouring Ukraine.

NEW YORK TIMES. The International Motor Show (IAA) opened in Munich, Bavaria (Germany), with the main themes being climate protection, sustainable mobility, sustainable driving and digitalization.

America

AFP. President Joe Biden has nominated former US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to be US Ambassador to Israel, a key position amid rising political tensions between the White House and its Middle Eastern ally.

PRENSA LATINA. A delegation of 30 Brazilian businessmen in air transport, agriculture, energy... will arrive in the capital Havana to promote trade and rebuild bilateral relations with Cuba.

AP. The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) armed group announced that the two sides have reached important agreements during the fourth round of peace talks taking place in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

CNBC. The US Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) launched 13 military satellites into space using a Falcon 9 rocket to monitor rocket launches and provide global military communications.

Africa

BBC. NGO African Parks said it had bought Platinum Rhino - the world's largest rhino farm located in South Africa, home to 2,000 southern white rhinos .

AFP. At the Africa Climate Summit in Kenya, the UAE announced a commitment to invest $4.5 billion in clean energy on the continent.

DAILY POST NIGERIA. At least 16 hostages were rescued from criminal gangs, in a recent anti-kidnapping operation carried out by Nigerian security personnel in Bauchi state.

AFRICA NEWS. Niger's military-appointed Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, hopes the country's military government will soon reach an agreement with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

REUTERS. Burkina Faso's military says at least 53 security forces have been killed in fierce clashes with rebels in the north.

AFP. By the end of 2022, at least 1.85 million children in sub-Saharan Africa will be internally displaced by climate disasters, according to humanitarian organization Save the Children.

UNHCR. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has called for a doubling of aid to provide timely assistance to nearly 2 million people displaced by the conflict in Sudan.

REUTERS. Denmark announced that it will provide 1.6 billion kroner ($230 million) in funding to the Green Climate Fund for Africa from 2024 to 2027.

Oceania

ABC. Vanuatu's new Prime Minister Sato Kilman says the Pacific island nation may need to rethink its security agreement with Australia.

SBS. The Queensland state government (Australia) banned the mass release of balloons, while the state of South Australia banned the use of plastic bowls and plates - an effort to gradually eliminate single-use plastic products.

NZ HERALD. Scientists from the New Zealand Institute of Geosciences and Nuclear Sciences have released a heat map showing the level of shaking caused by earthquakes in various areas across the country.
