On the morning of September 29, the Department of Tourism coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Police, the Department of Transport, the City Taxi Association, and the City Cadre Academy to organize a short-term training course on communication skills and handling situations with tourists for taxi drivers in the area.
This is the first training and knowledge update program for taxi drivers and public vehicle drivers serving tourists - one of the teams that have the first contact, meeting, and direct influence on tourists when coming to the city.
The units plan to organize 10 - 12 training courses/year for taxi drivers in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the immediate future, the units will organize training for drivers in Tan Son Nhat airport and the city center, then expand to taxi drivers throughout the city. The conditions for attending the class are that drivers have a driving license according to regulations and have not violated the law or are under investigation. According to the plan, each year the units will coordinate to organize 10-12 classes/year.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that creating a friendly and hospitable taxi driver team will leave a good impression on tourists, contributing to improving the quality of transportation services. From there, the taxi driver team contributes to building the local tourism environment, increasing competitiveness with other domestic and international tourist destinations.

"We hope that after the knowledge dissemination sessions, the taxi driver team will work with the tourism industry to spread and create a beautiful image of 'each taxi driver is a tourism ambassador', introducing culture, cuisine, and people to tourists when they come to Ho Chi Minh City," the Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism shared.
