A1 Hill Relic

Hill A1 belongs to the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield relic complex, one of the famous historical relics in Dien Bien, built in 1952 with the purpose of storing important documents, equipment and military supplies. In 1954, this was one of the important fighting locations in the Dien Bien Phu battle, considered the "throat" protecting the central area.

Located in the East of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold, Hill A1 is the most important high point in the system of 5 eastern hills protecting the center of Muong Thanh. Here, the enemy deployed many troops, strong firepower, and solid fortifications.

The battle at Hill A1 was very fierce, lasting 39 days and nights, more than 2,000 of our officers and soldiers sacrificed heroically. On the top of Hill A1, there are still traces of the explosive crater created by 960kg of explosives.

To this day, Hill A1 remains intact with its tunnel system, defensive platforms, water pumping stations and other structures. Visitors can explore and learn about this historic war, while enjoying the beautiful scenery from the top of the hill.

Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum

The Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum began construction in October 2012 on a 22,000m² plot of land and officially opened on May 5, 2014 after nearly 2 years of construction. Here, visitors will be able to admire artifacts, images, documents and simulation models of the fierce historical war at Dien Bien Phu, from the decisive battles to the lives of soldiers during the difficult days.

The museum is designed in the shape of a truncated cone, the exterior is decorated like an ancient soldier's helmet. The structure of the museum includes a basement and an above-ground floor.

The basement is mainly a space for reception, learning and cultural activities. The ground floor contains permanent exhibitions on the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In particular, when visiting the museum, visitors will admire the Panorama painting of Dien Bien Phu Campaign - a product evaluated by the art community as one of the 10 largest paintings in the world on the theme of war, recreating the entire 56-day and night Campaign that "shocked the world".

The content of the painting is divided into 4 stages: The whole people go to battle; The majestic prelude; The historic confrontation and The triumphant song to celebrate the victory. All images and events are strung together and seamlessly connected according to the development of the Campaign, giving viewers a complete, intuitive and vivid view.

Pha Din Pass

Pha Din Pass is known as one of the Four Great Passes of the Northwest and is also a destination not to be missed when traveling to Dien Bien. When coming here, you need to prepare yourself mentally to enjoy the excitement of conquering the winding roads.

The name "Pha Din" in Thai means "the intersection of heaven and earth", symbolizing the beautiful landscape here. Pha Din Pass is located about 100km from Dien Bien Phu city and is on the border between Dien Bien and Son La provinces.

Legend has it that this place was marked as the dividing point between Dien Bien and Son La. At that time, people and horses from the two provinces started the race at the same time. Both sides were evenly matched, and it was difficult to determine the winner. In the end, Lai Chau's horses were faster, so Pha Din Pass in Dien Bien was longer.

Pha Din Pass is considered a work of art of nature with adventurous bends at an altitude of over 1,000m. From a distance, the pass looks like a rope connecting the mountain peaks and hillsides in a wonderful way.

A Pa Chai
