Minister Nguyen Manh Hung: "The success of US businesses in Vietnam is also our success"

On the morning of March 20, 2025, at the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Minister Nguyen Manh Hung had a working session with the high-level delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by President and CEO Ted Osius. The meeting took place within the framework of the USABC delegation's working trip to Vietnam, marking a new step forward in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

At the meeting, Mr. Ted Osius and representatives of US businesses expressed their gratitude and commitment to contributing to the development of Vietnam - US relations. US businesses highly appreciated Vietnam's resolutions on science, technology development, innovation and digital transformation, considering these as timely legal documents, responding to the rapid development of these fields.

US businesses are impressed with Vietnam's achievements in digital transformation, contributing to promoting economic growth and improving national competitiveness. Vietnam is considered the fastest growing market in Southeast Asia, deeply participating in the digital economic value chain.

US businesses have made many proposals and recommendations to remove obstacles and promote cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, digital economy, Vietnamese data training, digital government services, innovation, quality measurement standards and intellectual property. Cooperation initiatives focus on promoting e-commerce exports, services using new technologies, developing ecosystems of standards and conformity certification, supporting the startup ecosystem in Vietnam... US businesses also committed to investing heavily in the fields of AI and high-tech equipment manufacturing, and wish to cooperate in projects to develop large Vietnamese language models. To further promote the development of the telecommunications industry, businesses expect the Ministry to promote the deployment of 5G networks and provide in-depth technology training courses, improving the effectiveness of intellectual property protection enforcement in Vietnam.

On the Vietnamese side, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung welcomed the USABC business delegation to work with the Ministry of Science and Technology on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 2nd anniversary of the upgrading of the comprehensive strategic partnership, and affirmed that Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for US businesses to expand their operations and investments. The Minister emphasized the commitment to perfecting the legal framework in the fields of science, technology and innovation, thereby improving the investment environment and creating favorable conditions for foreign businesses to operate long-term and sustainably.

In his sharing, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed: "Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Science and Technology in particular are always open to welcome and ready to support US businesses. The Ministry of Science and Technology considers receiving and solving challenges and problems brought by businesses as an opportunity for both sides to develop and improve themselves. We hope that US businesses will consider Vietnam as their second home, together building a long-term cooperation vision."

The Minister also suggested that when US businesses come to do business and develop in Vietnam, they should also be aware of contributing to the development of Vietnam's socio-economy, and at the same time called on USABC to support Vietnamese businesses to invest in the US market. "Your success in Vietnam is also our success. Vietnamese businesses are also actively investing abroad, especially in the United States, to create mutually beneficial two-way cooperation."
