Minister Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a meeting on electricity supply during April 30-May 1 and the 2025 dry season.

On the afternoon of April 22, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a working session with representatives of the following corporations: Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Vietnam National Industry and Energy (PVN), Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), Dong Bac Corporation, Vietnam Gas Corporation... Functional units under the Ministry include: Electricity Department; Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion; Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment; Department of Oil, Gas and Coal; Ministry Office; National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) on the electricity supply situation during the April 30-May 1 holiday and the dry months of 2025.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Ninh - General Director of NSMO said that since the end of 2024, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien had given very early and drastic instructions in Directive No. 15/CT-BCT dated December 13, 2024 (Directive 15) on ensuring electricity supply during holidays, Tet and major political and cultural events in 2025, in which the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification is an important political event taking place nationwide.

Then, on March 27, the Electricity Department issued Official Dispatch No. 155/DL-HTD dated March 27, 2025 on ensuring power supply during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, requesting EVN and NSMO to closely coordinate in planning and implementing to ensure power supply for the National Power System during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the April 30 and May 1 holidays as well as the entire year 2025.

To carry out this task, NSMO has coordinated with EVN and relevant units to develop plans and preparations to ensure electricity supply during the April 30 and May 1 holidays with the highest goal of: Ensure safe power supply, no subjective incidents, provide enough power in all situations. Establish an operating method with enough reserves to be ready to respond to possible incidents, especially high reserves for April 30.

Functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade have also coordinated with relevant parties to directly inspect the power supply for the holidays as well as the 2025 dry season.

With relatively favorable weather forecasts, along with the long holiday, industrial loads will decrease, so power supply will be guaranteed.

NSMO has also increased its on-duty presence at the Northern, Central and Southern Dispatch Centers during the holiday. Deputy General Directors directly inspect operations and direct the handling of arising situations. At the same time, plans for incident handling drills, control room conversion, ensuring grid safety and fire prevention and fighting are also urgently implemented.

At the meeting, representatives of EVN, PVN, TKV... and energy enterprises; functional departments contributed opinions and recommendations on ensuring electricity during the holidays as well as the 2025 dry season.

After listening to the opinions, the Minister of Industry and Trade will have a conclusion on the meeting.
