Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed and co-chaired a political consultation with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

On the morning of November 22, at the Government Guest House, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed and co-chaired the 10th Vietnam - Laos Foreign Ministers' Political Consultation with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

Nhận lời mời của Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Việt Nam Bùi Thanh Sơn, Phó Thủ tướng, Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Lào Saleumxay Kommasith và Đoàn đại biểu Bộ Ngoại giao Lào thăm Việt Nam từ ngày 21-23/11.

At the invitation of Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and a delegation from the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Vietnam from November 21-23.

Chuyến thăm Việt Nam lần này của Phó Thủ tướng, Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Lào Saleumxay Kommasith diễn ra trong bối cảnh tình hình quan hệ hợp tác giữa hai nước nói chung và giữa hai Bộ Ngoại giao Việt Nam-Lào đang trên đà phát triển hết sức tốt đẹp.

Welcoming Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two countries in general and between the two Foreign Ministries of Vietnam and Laos in particular is developing very well.

Chuyến thăm nhằm tiếp tục khẳng định, thắt chặt hơn nữa tình đoàn kết, gắn bó giữa lãnh đạo hai Bộ và cá nhân hai Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao hai nước Việt Nam-Lào.

The visit continues to affirm and further strengthen the solidarity and connection between the leaders of the two Ministries and the two Foreign Ministers of Vietnam and Laos.

Trong khuôn khổ chuyến thăm, Phó Thủ tướng, Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Lào Saleumxay Kommasith sẽ chào xã giao Lãnh đạo cấp cao Việt Nam và cùng Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Bùi Thanh Sơn đồng chủ trì Tham vấn Chính trị cấp Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Việt Nam-Lào lần thứ 10.

During the visit, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith will pay a courtesy call to senior Vietnamese leaders and co-chair the 10th Vietnam-Laos Foreign Ministerial-level Political Consultation with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Tham vấn Chính trị cấp Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Việt Nam-Lào là cơ chế hợp tác thường niên quan trọng giữa hai Bộ, được luân phiên tổ chức hàng năm.

The Vietnam-Laos Foreign Ministerial Political Consultation is an important annual cooperation mechanism between the two ministries, held on a rotational basis every year. Đây là dịp để hai bên rà soát, đánh giá tình hình quan hệ hợp tác giữa Việt Nam-Lào trong năm qua, từ đó tham mưu cho Lãnh đạo cấp cao hai nước về những định hướng lớn cho quan hệ hợp tác giữa hai nước trong năm 2024 và những năm tiếp theo; chia sẻ quan điểm về các vấn đề quốc tế, khu vực mà hai bên cùng quan tâm.

This is an opportunity for the two sides to review and evaluate the situation of cooperation between Vietnam and Laos over the past year, thereby advising the two countries' senior leaders on major orientations for cooperation between the two countries in 2024 and the following years; share views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Bên cạnh đó, hai bên sẽ kiểm điểm, đánh giá kết quả hợp tác giữa hai Bộ trong thời gian qua trên cơ sở Thỏa thuận Hợp tác giữa hai Bộ Ngoại giao Việt Nam-Lào giai đoạn 2021-2025; đặc biệt là góp phần quan trọng vào việc tháo gỡ khó khăn, vướng mắc trong quan hệ hợp tác, góp phần phối hợp phục vụ tốt các chuyến thăm, tiếp xúc cấp cao; cùng các bộ, ngành và địa phương của hai nước tiếp tục tích cực triển khai hiệu quả các thỏa thuận cấp cao hai nước.

In addition, the two sides will review and evaluate the results of cooperation between the two ministries in the past time on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement between the two foreign ministries of Vietnam and Laos for the period 2021-2025; especially contributing significantly to removing difficulties and obstacles in the cooperative relationship, contributing to good coordination in serving high-level visits and contacts; together with ministries, branches and localities of the two countries, continue to actively and effectively implement high-level agreements between the two countries.

Hai bên cũng trao đổi các biện pháp nâng cao hiệu quả phối hợp giữa hai Bộ Ngoại giao thời gian tới, trong đó có Kế hoạch hành động ngoại giao kinh tế giai đoạn 2020-2025.

The two sides also discussed measures to improve the effectiveness of coordination between the two Foreign Ministries in the coming time, including the Economic Diplomacy Action Plan for the 2020-2025 period.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son co-chaired the political consultation with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

Next year, Laos will assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024 with the theme “ASEAN: Strengthening Connectivity and Resilience”, the two countries can closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially within ASEAN and the Mekong sub-regional mechanisms. Vietnam affirmed that it will continue to support Laos in its preparations, especially in discussing content, logistics, protocol, security and other issues, thereby helping Laos successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024.

Từ nay đến khi Lào tổ chức các Hội nghị liên quan và trong suốt năm ASEAN 2024, Việt Nam sẽ tiếp tục hợp tác chặt chẽ với Lào cũng như các nước thành viên ASEAN và các đối tác bên ngoài vì lợi ích chung của khu vực và thúc đẩy cộng đồng ASEAN vững mạnh.

From now until Laos hosts relevant conferences and throughout ASEAN 2024, Vietnam will continue to work closely with Laos as well as ASEAN member countries and external partners for the common interests of the region and to promote a strong ASEAN community.

Tin tưởng chắc chắn rằng, với sự phối hợp chặt chẽ, hỗ trợ của các nước, trong đó có Việt Nam, năm Chủ tịch ASEAN 2024 của Lào sẽ thành công tốt đẹp như mong đợi, qua đó đóng góp tích cực vào hòa bình, ổn định và hợp tác phát triển ở trong khu vực và trên thế giới.

We firmly believe that, with the close coordination and support of countries, including Vietnam, Laos' ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024 will be a great success as expected, thereby actively contributing to peace, stability and development cooperation in the region and the world.
