Ministry of Information and Communications launches essential e-book and newspaper platform

(CLO) On the afternoon of November 29, the Information and Communications Publishing House ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) held a launching ceremony for an essential electronic book and newspaper platform to serve the goal and task of reducing information poverty. The national book and newspaper platform has the domain names sachdientu.vn and ebook.gov.vn.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Chi Dat - Director, Editor-in-Chief of Information and Communication Publishing House said that the platform was built with many useful features and tools such as: posting, managing books, electronic newspapers to serve readers; there are free-to-use e-book making tools, decentralized for publishing houses to design and edit themselves, and press agencies to present electronic newspapers according to press types.

In addition, the reading tool has many advanced features to help readers have the best experiences such as bookmarking pages, highlighting text, taking notes, increasing and decreasing font size, and day/night reading mode.

Currently, the platform has more than 3,600 publications, including 202 e-books (including Multimedia books, audiobooks and regular e-books) and 3,485 e-articles, in the forms of Infographic, Mega Story and visual newspaper ( video ).

The platform is built and operated not only to serve the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, but also to create an ecosystem, becoming a platform for publishing and distributing e-books, providing content and press information for other programs and projects chaired by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong requested publishing and press agencies and units to increase the number of books and publications, diversifying types such as audiobooks and multimedia books; press agencies to promote publications with all types of journalism to serve the needs of the people.

"Putting the e-book and e-newspaper platform into operation and exploitation will contribute to promoting digital transformation in the field of journalism and publishing, and will be an essential information channel for people to access, read and experience e-books and e-newspapers...", Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed.
