Ministry of Home Affairs approves proposal for 5 consecutive days off on April 30 and May 1 holidays

Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs agreed with the plan to take an additional day off on April 29 and arrange to work on another day to extend the holiday proposed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the plan to take an additional day off on April 29 and arrange to work on another day to extend the holiday proposed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs requested the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to promptly submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision, ensuring proactiveness in organizing and arranging work of the political system, relevant agencies and organizations and the people.

Previously, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sent a dispatch to relevant agencies to seek opinions on swapping working days on the occasion of the April 30 Victory Day and May 1 International Labor Day holidays so that workers can have 5 consecutive days off.

According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2024, the holiday of Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1 will be on April 29 (Monday), between the holiday and the weekly day off.

Therefore, there is a proposal to swap the normal working day (April 29) and make up for it with another day on the occasion of the holidays of April 30 and May 1, 2024, so that cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers can have 5 consecutive days off.

Thereby, helping to stimulate tourism and social consumption, promoting economic growth. At the same time, this exchange does not change the working time fund of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that after receiving opinions from ministries and branches, the ministry will propose to the Prime Minister to consider and decide on the above-mentioned work time swap.

If the proposal is approved by the Prime Minister, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers working 5 days a week will have 5 consecutive days off on the occasion of Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1.

Regarding overtime pay, according to Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees who work overtime during the Lunar New Year during the day will be paid at least 300%, not including holiday pay for employees who receive daily wages. The overtime pay of employees is exempt from personal income tax.

Therefore, employees who work on holidays and Tet holidays are paid at least 300% of their salary, not including holiday and paid leave wages for employees receiving daily wages.
