At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of April 24, when asked about information published in The New York Times that President Donald Trump's administration asked US officials not to attend the April 30 anniversary celebration in Vietnam, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "We have not verified the accuracy of this information."
Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized that April 30 is a historical milestone of special significance for the Vietnamese people. This is a victory of conscience and justice, ending the pain and loss not only of the Vietnamese people but also of many other families around the world .

“The past years have witnessed the tireless efforts of many generations of Vietnamese and American people in healing the wounds of war, overcoming differences to build a friendly, cooperative relationship, looking towards the future,” Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson affirmed that commemorating April 30 is not only an occasion to look back on history, but also an opportunity to honor the lasting values of forgiveness, peace, reconciliation and healing.
“From former enemies, Vietnam and the US normalized diplomatic relations in 1995, established a comprehensive partnership in 2003, and most recently upgraded it to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and development,” said Ms. Pham Thu Hang.
Ms. Pham Thu also affirmed that the Vietnam-US relationship is currently continuing to develop strongly, in line with the common interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries, while actively contributing to peace, stability and development in the region as well as in the world.
