I am the youngest daughter in a family of four. My older brother is a "construction worker", so sometimes I get to follow him around to do field surveys. I admire people working in this field because they create massive, impressive projects. Therefore, since high school, I have cherished the desire to become a construction consultant and work in this field.
However, when I expressed my desire to study Civil Engineering at the University of Construction, my whole family strongly opposed it. Up until now, my family has always oriented me to study Economics .
In every conversation, my parents emphasized: "Why should girls study Engineering to ruin their beauty? This field is only for boys." My brother also agreed with that point of view.
I am very confused right now. On one side is my dream, on the other side is my family's wish, I don't know what to do to make both sides complete. Please give me some advice.
