Vietnam U17 met Kyrgyzstan U17 in the first match of Group I of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers. At Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), the home team could not win against the opponent from the Central Asian region.
U17 Vietnam entered the match confidently, playing proactively. However, coach Cristiano Roland's students had difficulty against the opponent's solid defense system.
U17 Vietnam faced many difficulties in the first half.
Kyrgyzstan U17 marked closely and fought fiercely. The young Vietnamese players could not coordinate and move quickly enough to break away from the opponent's marking.
In the first half, U17 Vietnam did not create any dangerous opportunities. Meanwhile, U17 Kyrgyzstan had 2 missed situations when taking advantage of the home team's defense's weaknesses.
The game did not change much after the break. It was not until the 60th minute that U17 Vietnam created clear pressure, making U17 Kyrgyzstan struggle to defend.
U17 Vietnam missed many opportunities in the second half.
Good attacking combinations appeared more often from the home team. However, U17 Vietnam could not take advantage of the opportunity to score.
On the other hand, the home team was also lucky not to concede a goal. The home defenders' mistakes allowed U17 Kyrgyzstan to have 2 shots very close to the goal but they were unable to hit the target.
