The list of admission methods prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training is included in the draft guidelines for university and college admissions in 2025 with 17 method codes.

Thus, compared to the list of university admission methods in 2024 as prescribed by the Ministry, this year's list has reduced 3 admission methods.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education, one of the problems of the 2024 university admission season is that there are too many admission methods, while only a few methods are really useful for schools in admission.

"The fact that universities use too many admission methods causes information confusion. Many admission methods have no or very few candidates registering, showing ineffectiveness and not ensuring fairness between admission methods.

There is an admission method in which the number of candidates admitted by this method in the entire system is only 2 digits (only a few dozen candidates - PV)," said Mr. Dung.

According to Mr. Dung, many training institutions have not analyzed the correlation and evaluated the students' learning outcomes according to the admission methods. Some places have not ensured fairness and allocated quotas unreasonably, causing difficulties for candidates and the system.

Through analysis of the Ministry's 2024 regular university admission results, it shows that more than 52% of candidates are admitted based on high school graduation exam results and more than 27% are admitted based on high school academic results (transcripts). Meanwhile, only about 3.36% of candidates are admitted based on the results of the ability and thinking assessment test.

"Therefore, universities should consider calculating to eliminate ineffective admission methods before planning to organize admissions in the 2025 university entrance exam," Mr. Dung recommended.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the university admission registration deadlines for 2025.

It is mandatory to register for all admission wishes on the system.

The Ministry of Education and Training notes that candidates need to carefully study the school's admission information and admission regulations, and register for admission according to the training institution's regulations (regarding criteria, conditions, documents, procedures, and time for admission) at the school's admission portal and all candidates' wishes must be registered for admission on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal or at the national public service portal.

Independent candidates submit their application form to the Department of Education and Training to be granted an account on the system; provide information for training institutions to consider; register for admission and pay fees online; submit high school academic scores directly at the schools where candidates register for admission.

Candidates log in to the Ministry of Education and Training's enrollment support system to check and confirm their academic results.

Candidates must complete the entire application process correctly and completely. If you are not clear about the declaration and payment of application fees, you can contact the staff at the reception points or the university staff on duty at the admission support hotline for guidance.

At the same time, candidates must provide evidence (admission scores, preliminary scores, etc.); complete registration until the results of the high school exam review are available; register for admission and pay fees online.

Candidates for direct admission must submit their application according to the instructions of the training institution. Candidates who are admitted directly must still register their application on the Ministry's system.

What to note when registering for admission?

Candidates must provide data (according to the criteria, conditions, and registration process specified in the admission information of the schools) corresponding to the major/program that the candidate has registered for admission so that the schools can use it for admission (detailed instructions on the registration steps are posted right on the system that candidates will access to register).

Candidates do not apply for majors or training programs that do not meet the requirements.

Information for admission registration includes: order of wishes, training institution code and name of training institution, admission code. All candidates register for admission according to the admission code of the training major/program... (do not register in detail for admission methods/admission combinations).

Candidates' wishes for admission to all universities are registered by major/program and are ranked from 1 to the end (wish 1 is the highest wish).

All admission requests of candidates to universities are processed on the system and each candidate is only admitted to the highest request among the registered requests when ensuring the admission conditions.

All applications for admission on the system must pay a fee (regardless of admission method).
