For many years, captain Manuel Neuer (37 years old) and Sven Ulreich (35 years old) have always been the goalkeeping duo of Bayern Munich. On Bayern Munich's homepage, it was announced that these two players have officially extended their contracts until June 30, 2025.
Speaking to reporters, the club's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: "Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich are simply a dream team. It is a pleasure to watch them work every day. They support each other, motivate each other and embody the typical values of Bayern Munich.
Sven has proven to be a solid support for Manuel during the captain's injury layoff, and Manuel Neuer has shown that he has not lost his form since returning from injury.
Therefore, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund shared: “We are very happy to have Manuel and Sven continue to accompany the club.
Manuel is our captain and has been the best goalkeeper in the world for many years. He has taken the goalkeeper position to a new level and continues the tradition of great Bayern Munich goalkeepers such as Sepp Maier and Oliver Kahn.
Meanwhile, Sven Ulreich has also shown his class in recent months when Manuel has been sidelined through injury. He is also an important factor in the dressing room with his calm and open demeanour.”
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said: “I am very happy to be staying at Bayern Munich for another year. After a long injury, I am back. I am really happy to be on the pitch with the team.
I am sure that, together with the fans, we can achieve our big goals in the coming years and obviously the 2025 Champions League final in Munich is one of them. Knowing that I still have Sven by my side makes it even better.”
Sven Ulreich said: “When I came to Bayern Munich from Stuttgart in 2015, I never thought I would stay here for so long. Now I have extended my contract until 2025 and will continue to do my best to help us achieve our goals.
I am delighted to continue working with Manuel, Daniel Peretz and goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner. I have more in common with Manuel than just a passion for football, we are truly friends."
Neuer joined Bayern from FC Schalke 04 in 2011 and has been the club's captain since 2017. He has won the treble of Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Cup twice with Bayern Munich (2013, 2020). Manuel Neuer has won the Bundesliga 11 times and the DFB Cup six times.
In total, Manuel Neuer has made 494 appearances for Bayern Munich and could tie Bastian Schweinsteiger (500) for the club's all-time appearance list.
Neuer is also the goalkeeper with the most appearances for the German national team (117 matches) and was a member of the German team that won the 2014 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Sven Ulreich came to Bayern Munich in 2015 from VfB Stuttgart and apart from a short spell at Hamburger SV in the 2020/21 season, he has been with the Bavarian giants.
Sven Ulreich was part of the treble-winning team in 2020 and has won seven Bundesliga titles and three DFB Cups. Ulreich has made 98 appearances for Bayern Munich to date.
