The revolution to streamline the state apparatus has created momentum and established a solid political foundation for the country to confidently enter a new era.
An important contribution to the innovation process is the establishment of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions (in operation from March 1, 2025). This is not only a historical milestone in the new development journey of a Government agency, but also an important turning point in the State management of ethnic minorities, beliefs and religions, to carry out a new mission - contributing to the prosperous development of the country in the era of development.
There is no gap between nations
The working atmosphere at the departments, offices, and divisions of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions in Hanoi in the first days of March 2025 is bustling, united, and responsible. This is one of the newly established ministries with a sense of urgency and special significance, so it has received great attention from compatriots and voters nationwide.
Previously, February 18 marked a milestone in the new journey of the ethnic affairs agency when the National Assembly resolved to establish the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions in Resolution No. 176/2025/QH15, on the basis of the Ethnic Committee receiving additional functions of State management of beliefs and religions from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The establishment of this new ministry not only has the significance of streamlining the Government apparatus, but also affirms the position of the ethnic affairs agency when receiving additional functions and tasks in the field of religion. The fact that the two fields of ethnicity and religion "come under one roof" is also expected to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency in the process of building and implementing ethnic and religious policies of the Party and State; thereby consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, so that the country can strongly rise up.
In fact, the issues of ethnicity and religion in Vietnam have always had a close relationship, interacting and influencing each other. Vietnam has 54 ethnic groups, including 53 ethnic minorities. Due to many objective factors, the socio-economic conditions of many ethnic minorities are still limited, lower than the national average. Therefore, in the process of leading the revolution, our Party and State have always consistently advocated the equality, solidarity, respect and mutual assistance of ethnic groups for mutual development.
Throughout the country's development, the Party and State have always ensured and created conditions for ethnic minorities in all regions of the country to enjoy freedom of belief and religion in accordance with the law; supported socio-economic development for ethnic minority areas to contribute to improving their lives.
As Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized at the Ceremony to announce the National Assembly's Resolution on the establishment of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions held on March 1, 2025, our country has 54 ethnic groups, each with its own cultural identity, creating a unified and diverse Vietnamese culture. In particular, the spirit of great national solidarity has been promoted by the entire Party, State and people in all periods and stages of the revolution and has achieved great victories as President Ho Chi Minh summarized: "Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity/Success, success, great success."
Along with that, strongly promoting solidarity among religions, religions also link religion with life, life with religion in the spirit of "religion and nation."
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in the new situation, the country's mainstay is still the spirit of great national unity, national sentiment, and compatriotism, which need to continue to be promoted to the highest level to carry out the noble and heavy political tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people in building and defending the country in the new period. Therefore, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions must continue to thoroughly grasp and implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on ethnic and religious affairs, and perform well its functions, tasks, and powers as prescribed.
Along with that, the State management agency on ethnicity and religion must create conditions for ethnic groups to have equal access, without gaps between ethnic groups in development; not to leave anyone behind and not to let hostile and reactionary forces divide the national unity bloc.

Along with ethnic work is religious work. Therefore, in the coming time, the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion needs to ensure freedom of belief and religion, closely combine religion and life, life and religion, religion is closely linked to the nation; institutionalize and effectively implement state management, management for development, implementation of the Party's guidelines, State policies, and people's aspirations on religious work; at the same time, improve the material and spiritual life quality of religious people according to the development of the country.

Immediately after receiving the National Assembly's Resolution on the establishment of the ministry and introducing it to the people and voters nationwide, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has deployed its tasks to quickly operate the new apparatus.
Accordingly, on March 1, the signing ceremony of the Minutes of Handover between the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions and the Ministry of Home Affairs took place to complete the process of establishing the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions. Also on the same day, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting with religious dignitaries from across the country to congratulate .
Then, on March 3, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions held a Conference to announce and award the Decision on appointing leaders of affiliated units and the Party Committee of the Ministry. On the same day, the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions held the First Conference, term 2020 - 2025; Minister Dao Ngoc Dung chaired the conference.
At the conference, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung sent his congratulations to all leaders of departments and units of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions who received the appointment decisions. Also at the conference, Mr. Dung noted that ethnic and religious affairs are very important issues for a nation.
According to the Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, the country's prosperity depends greatly on these two issues. Therefore, the head of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has requested that units immediately get to work and act on the motto of innovation and creativity; the Department of Organization and Personnel coordinates with Party Committees to review and promulgate regulations and functions of units in the spirit of no overlap, no missing work, and each work has only one unit in charge to effectively carry out assigned tasks; units accelerate the implementation and remove obstacles of projects under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas...
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung also believes that with the above orientations, in the coming time, the ethnic and religious fields will have a clear change.
That is also the mission of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, to further consolidate a solid political foundation, so that the country can confidently enter the era of growth./.
