On the afternoon of December 28, in Hanoi, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a meeting to review and adjust the VIII Power Plan.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Ministers of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai and Nguyen Hoang Long; representatives of agencies and departments under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and many related units.

In his directive speech, the Minister of Industry and Trade stated that the Prime Minister has issued a document requesting that the draft be completed and the adjusted Power Plan VIII be submitted before February 28, 2025. During the implementation process, if there are any problems, they will be reported to the Prime Minister.
To carry out the task, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will propose specific tasks and must prioritize implementation.

At the meeting, representatives of functional departments and offices reported on the results of implementation and tasks in the coming time.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien directed and requested the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department and relevant units to focus on completing the draft to submit to the Prime Minister for the first time on February 8; after appraisal, it will be submitted for the second time on February 18; at the same time, receive comments, revise, and complete the draft to officially submit to the Government on February 25, 2025.

Previously, on the morning of December 26, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long also chaired a meeting of the Council for Appraisal of the task of adjusting the VIII Power Plan according to Decision 1614/QD-TTg dated December 19, 2024 of the Prime Minister (First time).
The Appraisal Council also voted to basically approve the Reports, the Draft Decision of the Prime Minister, the explanatory reports and the strategic environmental assessment (DMC).
