On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), on the afternoon of June 8, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference in person and online to meet with leaders of press management and direction agencies and leaders of news agencies, newspapers, and journalists inside and outside the People's Public Security Forces. At the same time, a press competition with the theme "For national security and peaceful life" for the period 2023 - 2025 was launched. General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting.
At the Ninh Binh bridge, the meeting was attended by Colonel Dang Trong Cuong, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department; leaders of a number of press management agencies and press agencies in the province; leaders of professional departments, police of districts and cities under the Provincial Police Department.
At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Public Security reported on the results of press and media work and coordinated propaganda on the task of ensuring security and order in recent times.
Accordingly, the press, communication and coordination of propaganda on the task of ensuring security and order in recent times have always received the attention, orientation and regular and close direction of the leaders of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Public Security Party Committee, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the close and timely coordination of departments, branches, organizations, Public Security of units, localities and press agencies, achieving many positive results.
In particular, the press and communication work of the People's Public Security force has made many breakthroughs, focusing on promoting information and propaganda work, highlighting the role of the People's Public Security force in the cause of protecting national security and determined to build a truly clean, disciplined, elite and modern Public Security force in the spirit of Resolution No. 12 of the Politburo.
At the same time, vividly reflect the practical work of ensuring security and order, spread typical examples, beautiful images of "serving the people" of the Public Security force; proactively fight against wrong and hostile views, protect the Party's ideological foundation, protect national sovereignty; promote the fight against corruption and negativity... The results of the efforts and endeavors of the People's Public Security press team in recent times have been recognized with many works winning high prizes in competitions, festivals, and national press awards...
At the meeting, the Ministry of Public Security awarded the "Protecting National Security" Medal to 10 individuals working at press agencies who have made many contributions to the cause of protecting national security and certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the 41st National Television Festival.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security launched a press competition with the theme "For national security and peaceful life" for the period 2023 - 2025. This is an award held every two years, chaired by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Ministry of Information and Communications. The competition aims to affirm the role and importance of the press, which has been and is an important bridge between the People's Public Security and the masses; promote propaganda work on all aspects of the activities of the People's Public Security force, the role, position and important contributions of the People's Public Security force in the fight against crime, protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety, etc.
Works participating in the contest must be published and first broadcast between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024 on newspapers and radio stations licensed by the competent authority to operate the press.
Participants are professional or non-professional journalists, collaborators, and correspondents of news agencies and newspapers who are Vietnamese citizens living in and outside the country.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, sent his best wishes and sincere thanks to the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, press management agencies and generations of veteran journalists and press workers nationwide who have always accompanied, coordinated and helped the Public Security force to successfully complete the assigned tasks. At the same time, he acknowledged, commended and congratulated the results and achievements of the press management agencies, news agencies, newspapers and press workers inside and outside the Public Security Force over the past time.
The General affirmed: In each revolutionary stage, news agencies, newspapers and the Vietnamese revolutionary press team always pay special attention, accompany and stand side by side with the Public Security force on the silent front line for national security, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
To continue promoting the results and achievements, General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, requested that journalists and those working in the press in general, and journalists and those working in the press in the People's Public Security Forces in particular, continue to raise awareness of the position, role and tasks of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the new situation; clearly see the glorious mission of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, better perform its function as the mouthpiece of the Party, the State and socio-political organizations; and be a trusted forum for all classes of people.
To successfully fulfill that glorious mission, press agencies need to continue to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws on press work.
The Minister of Public Security emphasized: the People's Public Security Forces hope to continue to receive more attention and closer coordination from press management and direction agencies and press agencies in the coming time; thereby, prioritizing and enhancing the content, duration, and comprehensive, in-depth, focused, and highly convincing information on the implementation of the task of ensuring security and order, building the People's Public Security Forces and the movement "All people protect national security".
He also hopes to receive the companionship and support of press agencies inside and outside the People's Public Security Force, professional and non-professional writers, and all the people to actively respond and participate in the Press Competition with the theme "For national security and peaceful life" in the period of 2023 - 2025; to have high-quality works, contributing to spreading the image of "People's Public Security Force forgetting themselves for the country, serving the people". Thereby, encouraging and motivating the People's Public Security Force to excellently complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People.
