On the afternoon of August 21, General Secretary and President To Lam presented the Politburo's Decision to transfer and assign Mr. Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.
The Central Economic Committee is an advisory body, assisting the Central Executive Committee, directly and regularly the Politburo and the Secretariat in orienting the building and perfecting of economic institutions; planning major and important economic and social policies, guidelines and measures.
With the personnel consolidation of the Head of the Central Economic Committee, the unit's leadership currently has 4 people including Head of the Committee Tran Luu Quang and 3 Deputy Heads: Nguyen Duy Hung, Nguyen Hong Son and Nguyen Duc Hien.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the Central Economic Commission is an important advisory and support body of the Party at the Central level. The timely completion of the Head of the Commission is necessary to ensure the regular and direct leadership of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat over this important field of work.
According to General Secretary and President To Lam, the new Head of the Central Economic Commission, Tran Luu Quang, is a leader who has received basic training, matured from the grassroots, has held many positions, participated in many Central courses, has a lot of practical experience and experience in consulting, leadership, and direction, and has achieved many important results in the assigned fields.
The General Secretary and President asked Mr. Tran Luu Quang to promote his rich practical work experience, together with the leadership of the Central Economic Committee, to perform well the advisory function in orienting the construction and completion of economic institutions, planning major and important economic and social policies, guidelines, and measures...
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Tran Luu Quang thanked the General Secretary, the President, the Politburo, and the Secretariat for trusting him with this important task of the Party. According to him, this is truly a great honor, but also a heavy responsibility.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang was born in 1967, from Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province. He has a Master's degree in Public Management and is a Mechanical Engineer.
Mr. Quang is a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; a National Assembly delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.
Starting out as a specialist at the Department of Planning and Investment, Mr. Quang then held many important positions in the locality.
From 1994 to 2010, he held many positions such as Head of Department of Planning and Investment; Deputy Head of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board; Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Chairman of the People's Committee and then Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee, Tay Ninh Province.
After nearly a term as Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Tran Luu Quang became Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
In early 2019, he transferred to work in Ho Chi Minh City, holding the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and held this position for more than two years.
More than two years later, he held the position of Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, before being approved by the 15th National Assembly as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term, in early 2023.
