Previously, at around 9:15 a.m. on January 12, the traffic control patrol team of Tuy Phong Traffic Police Station, under the Traffic Police Department of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, conducted a scheduled alcohol and drug test on National Highway 1 through Vinh Hao Commune, Tuy Phong District (Binh Thuan).
At Km 1599+250, the authorities signaled to stop a truck with license plate 18H-002.13 traveling North-South, driven by Nguyen Van Tri. However, the driver did not comply, did not present his documents and continued driving towards Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway.
The patrol team informed and coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to pursue the vehicle. After about 20km of pursuit on the highway, at km 162 in Bac Binh district, the police stopped the vehicle.
However, the driver was stubborn and suddenly drove straight into the traffic police patrol team, moving onto the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway. After that, the truck driver protested by stopping the vehicle in the middle of the road, causing traffic jams behind.
