The VK98 Gasoline Tank-Fuel Depot relic, a Special National Historical Relic of the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail system, in Loc Quang commune, Loc Ninh border district (Binh Phuoc province) is in a state of serious degradation and landslides.

Currently, the VK98 Fuel Tank-Depot Relic is experiencing landslides, greatly affecting visitors' sightseeing.

The stone embankment around the gas tank has cracked, collapsed, and fallen into the tank protection area, at the same time threatening to affect other ancillary structures.

This landslide not only ruins the beauty of the relic but also endangers visitors.

According to Mr. Le Dang Minh, the fuel depot keeper, he recently discovered cracks and reported them to the Provincial Museum. Currently, he continues to look after, protect and keep this area clean.

Mr. Dieu Thang, a resident of Loc Ninh district, shared: "The relic has been beautifully restored and embellished by the State. We are very happy because this place has become a historical highlight. However, the current state of degradation makes us very worried. We hope that the authorities at all levels will soon take measures to repair it so that people and tourists can return to visit this relic."

According to Binh Phuoc Provincial Museum, to ensure the safety of visitors, the Museum has announced the temporary suspension of receiving visitors at the VK98 Gasoline Tank-Fuel Depot relic until further notice.

VK98 fuel depot was built in 1974, located on a hill with an area of 10 hectares, including 7 tanks, each tank has a capacity of 250,000 liters.

The oil tanks are made of steel, 10m in diameter, 3.5m high and 100m apart in a triangular shape, buried underground and surrounded by dense forest trees and spikes.

The tanks are connected by pipes, high above the road surface, allowing vehicles to get gasoline without using a pump, just opening the valve to let the fuel flow into the tank.

After the liberation day, the oil tanks were dismantled by Military Region 7 Logistics, leaving only one tank to serve the needs of people for sightseeing and learning.

On December 9, 2013, the VK98 Fuel Tank-Depot Relic was ranked as a special National Historical Relic by the Prime Minister, located in the Truong Son Road-Ho Chi Minh Road relic system.

The VK98 Fuel Tank-Depot relic marked a period of "Splitting Truong Son to save the country", successfully completing the task of supplying gasoline and oil, contributing to the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.

Today, the relic has become an important place to learn and research about the petroleum pipeline system in particular and the legendary Truong Son road in general during the resistance war against American imperialism.

Up to now, the VK98 Gasoline Tank-Fuel Depot Relic has been temporarily closed to visitors for more than a year. Local people hope that the relic will be repaired soon so that tourists and locals can return to visit and learn about a part of the nation's heroic history./.
