
Accordingly, in the second phase, Project 174 Management Board received 35 applications. Through review and assessment, 19 young intellectual volunteers were selected who were in good health, had good moral qualities, political fortitude, qualifications, and professional expertise to meet the requirements of the task. Of these, 16 had university degrees and 3 had college degrees.
After 1 year, the young intellectuals have guided people to take care of 19 hectares of rice and high-yield cassava in Duc Co district; guided, assisted, and transferred techniques to 241 households in Chu Prong district; planted 13 hectares of rice as a demonstration model to guide techniques for people; coordinated with units to raise more than 1,000 cattle to create a seed bank; helped 12 families to remove temporary and dilapidated houses. In addition, the young intellectuals volunteered to teach vocational skills to 328 people, eliminate illiteracy for 20 people; and helped 54 students in difficult circumstances. At the same time, the young intellectuals and the unit organized medical examinations, admissions, treatment, and free medicine distribution for 237 people.

On this occasion, Project Management Board 174, Army Corps 15 awarded certificates of merit to 5 young volunteer intellectuals and 1 group for their excellent completion of tasks in 1 year of implementing the second phase of the project.
