Binh Dinh supports WPD Group to implement wind power project in Vinh Thanh district

Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee recently worked with a delegation of WPD Group (Germany) led by Mr. Hans-Christoph Brumberg, CEO of the Group's Asia region.

At the meeting, Mr. Hans-Christoph Brumberg said that WPD is a large corporation in the field of wind power in Germany and Europe. In Binh Dinh, WPD Vietnam Company (a member of WPD Group) conducted a field survey, conducted wind measurements to assess wind potential and researched the development of the Wind Power Project in Vinh Thanh district in the coming time.

Providing more information about the project, Mr. Nguyen Hai Duyen, General Director of WPD Vietnam Company, said that in Binh Dinh, from July 2024, the company will conduct wind measurements in Vinh Thuan commune, Vinh Thanh district; at the same time, collect wind indicators in some areas where wind power projects have been deployed in Binh Dinh for comparison. The results of the measurements in Vinh Thuan commune have all the elements to invest in a wind power project.

According to Mr. Duyen, in Vinh Thuan, the company is expected to invest in a 143 MW wind power plant project; total investment capital is about 4,600 billion VND; with a land use area of about 48 hectares.

To implement the project, the General Director of WPD Vietnam Company said that from now until July 2025, the company strives to have official wind measurement data; in early 2026, the Company will fully evaluate all technical factors to have a project feasibility study report to submit to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for consideration.

Business representatives expressed their determination to complete these goals and also hoped that the province would support the proposal of this project to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to include it in the VIII Power Plan as a basis for project implementation.

In addition, the enterprise also proposed that the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province consider and include the wind power project area in Vinh Thuan in the list of land plots for bidding and selection of investors to implement the project (submitted to the Provincial People's Council for approval); consider organizing the selection of investors for the project in the second quarter of 2026 (when all legal conditions are met).

At the meeting, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, said that the province has identified wind power as a key economic sector and is attracting investors to develop projects. These are favorable conditions and great opportunities for WPD Group.

The Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee said that the province's viewpoint is to support WPD Group to invest in the wind power project in Vinh Thanh.

Therefore, if WPD Group and WPD Vietnam Company find that there are sufficient factors to promote investment in the project, they must "do it immediately and quickly". The provincial departments and branches will support the relevant legal procedures so that the group can speed up the implementation progress.
