Following the direction of the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, the military force continued to excavate and search for the second burial site of martyrs in the raid on Xuan Son hill.
On the afternoon of June 21, Mr. Nguyen Huu Khuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoai An district (Binh Dinh province) said that, implementing the direction of the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, the district is coordinating with the Military Command of Binh Dinh province to prepare for the search and excavation of the second mass grave of martyrs at Xuan Son hill.

According to Mr. Khuc, the second mass grave is located on an area of more than 2 hectares of acacia hills owned by about 8 households in Hoai An district. “We are organizing the measurement and declaration of crops to compensate and support the people before launching the search,” said Mr. Khuc.
On the same day (June 21), talking to SGGP Newspaper reporter, veteran Dang Ha Thuy (79 years old, in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh) - the person who discovered and searched for documents about the mass graves on Xuan Son hill said: "The second mass grave is located on the edge of the hill, about 200m to the Northeast of the first grave. According to the documents we collected from American veterans who fought on Xuan Son hill in December 1966, this second grave has 30 of our martyrs."
Previously, veteran Dang Ha Thuy proactively contacted veterans in the US who fought at Xuan Son Hill to collect documents about the battle on the night of December 26, 1966. Through that, the US veterans searched for and provided documents, coordinates, images of the battle and the locations of mass graves of our soldiers and civilians who died at Xuan Son Hill...

Thanks to Mr. Thuy's information, the functional forces of the Binh Dinh Provincial Military Command organized the excavation of the first burial pit on a 1,200m2 hill, discovered and collected many biological products and relics of about 60 martyrs of our army and people, to bring to the martyrs' cemetery of Tang Bat Ho town (Hoai An district) for a memorial service.

To commemorate the great merits and sacrifices of the martyrs at Xuan Son Hill, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee has agreed to invest in building a monument and tombs of the martyrs here with a budget of 14.7 billion VND. The project was inaugurated at the end of April 2023.
