Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Long Xuyen City Duong Thi Ngoc Dung said that under the leadership of the City Party Committee, the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission and the City People's Committee, the union and all levels and sectors have carried out well the work for women's advancement and gender equality, bringing about many encouraging results. The collective of female cadres from the city to the ward and commune levels have constantly made efforts, overcoming difficulties and obstacles to achieve and exceed many targets of the Resolution of the City Party Congress (term 2020 - 2025); Resolution of the Long Xuyen City Women's Congress (term 2021 - 2026).

Cadres, civil servants, public employees, and women's union members from the city to the ward and commune levels actively study and practice, and carry out well the emulation movements "Women actively study, work, and create to build a prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized family. In particular, the movement "Building a new-age Vietnamese woman" to develop into a woman with health, knowledge, morality, and responsibility for herself, her family, society, and the community... has urged women to constantly study, practice, be confident, self-respecting, kind, brave, intelligent, dynamic, creative, and excellently complete their tasks, worthy of the attention and care of the Party Committee, government, and people of the city.

Long Xuyen encourages businesses to create jobs for women, support women to start businesses, and develop the family economy. The city focuses on implementing policies to protect the rights of women, especially disadvantaged women. Promote women's participation in political and social activities, contributing to enhancing the role and position of women in the community. The city pays special attention to women's reproductive health and creates conditions for girls to study and develop comprehensively. "Through activities and movements, many women constantly strive, study and practice, they become typical examples of good workers, creative workers, managers, teachers and good doctors..." - President of the Long Xuyen City Women's Union Duong Thi Ngoc Dung informed.

Create conditions for women to contribute and develop

“In recent years, the implementation of female cadre work has been well implemented by the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, regularly reviewed, planned, trained and fostered to meet the requirements of the new situation. The female cadre team has developed relatively quickly, the proportion of female leaders has increased significantly. This is the clearest evidence of the progress of female cadres in the city” - Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Long Xuyen City Vo Thien Hao informed.

Currently, the Executive Committee of the Long Xuyen City Party Committee (term 2020 - 2025) has 8 female/40 members (reaching 20%), the ward/commune level has 77 female/195 members (reaching 39.48%); female delegates of the City People's Council are 9/33 delegates (accounting for 27.27%); wards and communes have 129/310 delegates (reaching 41.61%). The number of female leaders of departments, branches, sectors and mass organizations of the city is 44 comrades (16/40 Party agencies, departments, branches and mass organizations of the city have key female leaders, reaching 40%), of which 3 are women/12 members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee (33%). At the grassroots level, there are 28 female key leaders of wards and communes; 4/13 units of wards and communes have female Party Committee Secretaries and female Chairwomen of the People's Committees.

In the coming time, Party committees, authorities and sectors of Long Xuyen City must thoroughly grasp the viewpoints and goals of the Party and State on women's work in the new situation; consider women's work as the responsibility of the entire political system, the whole society and each family. Create a clear change in the quality and effectiveness of women's work in general and female cadre work in particular. At the same time, pay attention to and create favorable conditions for women in training, fostering, improving qualifications, supplementing knowledge, skills, expertise and profession; pay attention to arranging jobs in accordance with their expertise and strengths to promote the capacity and strengths of women. Pay more attention to planning female and young cadres, in order to create conditions and opportunities for women to participate in the leadership and management of the Party, authorities and organizations in the local political system.

With great efforts and determination, Long Xuyen is gradually building a civilized and progressive society, where women are respected, creating conditions for comprehensive development, contributing to the prosperity of the homeland.
