The protesting crowds were divided into two factions, one supporting Yoon and the other opposing the leader. Initially, the crowds supporting Yoon gathered near Gwanghwamun in central Seoul and Yeouido in the west of the city.
By the afternoon of March 1st, police estimated that at least 110,000 people had gathered in both locations. Dozens of politicians from the ruling People Power Party (PPP) attended the rally in Yeouido. Among them was lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun, who represented him in delivering a message of solidarity to those present.
Crowds protested in support of Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul on March 1.
Meanwhile, another protest, organized by the opposition Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) and four smaller parties, took place about 1 km from the pro-Yoon demonstration. This crowd called for the president's impeachment. Up to 100,000 people also marched against Yoon in central Seoul, including DPK leader Lee Jae-myung.
