On the evening of November 9, the ceremony to honor outstanding and typical students of Hai Phong City in 2024 took place at the historical site of cultural celebrity Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.
The ceremony to honor outstanding students of Hai Phong City in 2024 has the theme "Hai Phong students: Bright knowledge, solid skills, building the country".
At the ceremony, Hai Phong commended and honored 139 outstanding students, including: 85 students who won international, regional and national prizes in culture, science and technology, and UPU international letter writing; 23 students who participated in the 2024 high school graduation exam with high scores and were admitted to universities and academies at home and abroad; 31 students who graduated with honors or higher from universities in the area and students from Hai Phong who graduated with honors or higher from universities and academies nationwide. Each student was awarded 10 million VND along with a Certificate of Merit. The total amount of awards was nearly 1.4 billion VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee affirmed: The achievements that 139 students have achieved are very proud. This affirms the tradition of studiousness and good study of Hai Phong people, and at the same time shows that the work of nurturing excellent students is being invested in a methodical and correct way, with a wide influence on students in the city.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training maintained its leading position among provinces and cities in training and fostering excellent national students with 98 students winning high school awards, ranking 3rd nationwide; 2 first prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition and selected to participate in international competitions. Notably, in international and regional Olympic competitions, Hai Phong had 4 students participating and excellently won 5 medals: 1 Gold Medal at the International Biology Olympiad; 1 Silver Medal at the International Physics Olympiad; 1 Bronze Medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad; 1 Bronze Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad; 1 Silver Medal at the Asian Informatics Olympiad.
In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Hai Phong ranked 6th in the country in terms of average test scores, reaching 7.15 points. There was 1 student who achieved national valedictorian status in group B. The high school graduation rate reached 99.66%. The rate of students passing the university entrance exam reached 62%.
