NDO - On November 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese held a ceremony to honor overseas Vietnamese intellectuals who contributed ideas, suggestions and participated in the city's activities and presented books sponsored by Dr. Vo Ta Han to universities, colleges and libraries on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that through the ceremony, the committee wishes to express the city leaders' deep affection and concern for overseas Vietnamese intellectuals who have contributed ideas, suggestions and participated in activities in the city; honoring the contributions of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to the city's development.
The event was also an opportunity to commend Dr. Vo Ta Han for sponsoring 14,219 science and technology books from World Scientific Publishing House, Singapore to libraries, universities and colleges nationwide. Thereby, effectively promoting the role and tasks of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in connecting and supporting overseas Vietnamese. This is also an activity to diversify the content and programs of activities, enhance the promotion and introduction of "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space - Overseas Vietnamese Meeting Place" to the Vietnamese community at home and abroad.

Ho Chi Minh City has preferential policies to welcome overseas Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and scientists, who are Professors, Associate Professors, and Doctors with many achievements in research, teaching, and high prestige in the industry and specialized fields of many universities in developed countries to return to participate in cooperation, teaching, and research at institutes and schools, making great contributions to the construction and development of the city, especially in training human resources, contributing to building a civilized and modern Ho Chi Minh City.
In the past time, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in the city has received many opinions, suggestions and proposals from the overseas Vietnamese community in general and overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in particular to build and develop the city together, such as Professor Dang Luong Mo, Professor Le Trong Thuy, Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong, Dr. Vo Hong Duc, Dr. Le Thanh Nhan, Dr. Vo Ta Han, Dr. Le Vo Phuong Nga, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quoc Bao, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Uyen, ... and many other overseas Vietnamese intellectuals.
Moreover, Vietnamese experts and intellectuals abroad have been playing a good role as a bridge, supporting and connecting Vietnamese students to study at prestigious schools around the world, contributing to building high-quality human resources to serve the cause of national development.

On September 26, 2024, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee officially approved the Project "Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030". This is an important step to optimize economic resources from remittances to develop the city. The City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese hopes to receive many comments and suggestions to build and develop Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
On this occasion, together with the family of Dr. Vo Ta Han - an American expatriate - the City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese was honored to present 9,607 books, worth 894,382 USD (more than 24 billion VND) to 33 universities, colleges and libraries in the Southern and Central Highlands provinces. These books are part of 14,219 science and technology books from World Scientific Publishing House, Singapore, sponsored by Dr. Vo Ta Han to universities and colleges in Vietnam in 2024.
“We hope that, after receiving these books, universities, colleges, and libraries will create favorable conditions for students, lecturers, and readers to access knowledge and maximize the value of the scientific and technical books donated by Dr. Vo Ta Han, effectively applying them in practice, contributing to the construction and development of the country's science and technology,” said Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai.
