In autumn, Ta Xua (Bac Yen district, Son La province) is once again shrouded in thick layers of clouds. In the early morning, visitors can easily admire the sea of white clouds drifting over the mountain range.

From October to April each year, Ta Xua is frequently shrouded in thick layers of clouds, obscuring the horizon. Every year, Thanh Chi – a freelance photographer from Hai Duong – drives there to admire the sea of clouds. "Although camping at night is very cold and frosty, I get to see the starry sky. When I wake up, I can admire the majestic sea of clouds amidst the vast sky," the male tourist said. According to Thanh Chi, the clouds in Ta Xua are sheltered by high mountain ranges, so they are protected from the wind, drifting silently and floating gently. The clouds even spill over the mountain peaks, so close that you can almost touch them. When the sun rises, the clouds still swirl in the sunlight, not yet dissipating.

Peaceful highlands
As the sun neared its zenith, the clouds gradually dispersed, revealing the highlands in their clear shadows. At the foot of the mountains lay ethnic minority villages, where children in old clothes played carefree on swings, and mothers sat weaving brocade while carrying their babies. Besides "cloud hunting," the area also boasts green meadows with mountain ranges covered in lush grass, snow-capped Shan tea hills, and terraced rice fields in Xim Vang commune. "The tranquility of Ta Xua seems to make me forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life," Thanh Chi expressed. With the North currently experiencing a cold air mass, Ta Xua is expected to have 6-9% cloud cover in the coming weeks. The best time to admire the clouds is at dawn, when the sun shines directly on the clouds, creating a magical spectacle of colors.
